The National Geographic Traveler magazine is treated to Gran
Canaria’s natural, health and wellness and nautical attractions
Mari Carmen Duarte, a journalist from the prestigious National
Geographic Traveler Magazine, recently paid a visit to
Gran Canaria to gain first-hand knowledge of the island's
offer in terms of health and wellness, nautical and nature
tourism, information that will soon be translated into an
extensive report that will be accessible to an audience of
around 600,000 readers. This new promotional action has
been promoted by the associations Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness
& Health, Gran Canaria Blue and Gran Canaria Natural
& Active, official brands of Gran Canaria Tourism.
During her week-long stay on the island, the journalist made
a first stop at the Hotel Rural Fonda de La Tea, a former 19th
century inn located in Tejeda, now converted into a modern
accommodation that combines traditional architecture offering
comfort and convenience. She then moved on to the
Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel, an accommodation
that offers, in addition to great service and spectacular
sea views, a thalassotherapy centre with more than 6,000
square metres dedicated to health and wellness, which was
renovated in 2021.
Ably accompanied by Gran Canaria Natural & Active, Carmen
Duarte visited Finca La Laja and Bodega los Berrazales,
in Agaete, where she indulged in tastings and guided tours
of the coffee, orange and tropical fruit plantations and the
winery itself, where red, white and rosé wines are produced.
During this visit, she had the opportunity to savour the extraordinary
gastronomy offered by the Casa Romántica restaurant.
The journalist was also able to tour the facilities of
the Hotel Rural Las Longueras, discovering all the secrets
hidden away in its native gardens and its cactus collection.

Spirit of the Sea
She then visited La Fortaleza archaeological site and Visitor
Centre, located in one of Gran Canaria’s most stunning
natural settings: the Caldera de Tirajana, a museum where
it is possible to delve into the world of Canary Island archaeology
and gain an insight into the island’s first inhabitants.
The journalist also went hiking with Climbo, a company specialising
in a wide range of outdoor activities and associated
with Gran Canaria Natural & Active. Her trip took her to the
summit of Roque Nublo, where she was able to enjoy the
sunset in one of the most iconic mountain areas of Gran Canaria.
During the second part of her visit to the island, Duarte
made the most of her stay at the Gloria Palace San Agustín
Thalasso & Hotel, associated with Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness
& Health, to have lunch at its prestigious and renowned restaurant
Gorbea, located in the hotel grounds and offering
an exquisite and varied gastronomy, where she also enjoyed
a 50-minute massage in its thalassotherapy centre.
With Gran Canaria Blue, the journalist also enjoyed an excursion
at sea aboard the Spirit of the Sea, a catamaran designed
for whale watching, where she witnessed a family of
dolphins swimming by.
Duarte rounded off her trip with a visit to Puerto de Mogán,
the sight of a picturesque marina, located in one of the island’s
most beautiful and harmonious tourist areas, where
yachts and sport boats mingle with the small local fishing
boats.

La revista Viajes National Geographic descubre la oferta de
naturaleza, salud y bienestar y náutica de Gran Canaria
Mari Carmen Duarte, periodista de la prestigiosa
revista Viajes National Geographic, se desplazó
días pasados a Gran Canaria con el fin de conocer
de primera mano la oferta de la isla en materia de
turismo de salud y bienestar, náutico y de naturaleza,
una información que se traducirá pronto en
un amplio reportaje que será accesible a una audiencia
cercana a los 600.000 lectores. Esta nueva
acción promocional ha sido impulsada por las
asociaciones Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & Health,
Gran Canaria Blue y Gran Canaria Natural & Active,
marcas oficiales de Turismo de Gran Canaria.
Durante su estancia en la isla, de una semana de
duración, la periodista se alojó en primera instancia
en el Hotel Rural Fonda de La Tea, un antiguo
hostal del siglo XIX localizado en Tejeda y hoy reconvertido
en un moderno alojamiento que combina
la arquitectura tradicional con la comodidad
y el confort y, posteriormente, en el Gloria Palace
San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel, un alojamiento que
ofrece, además de buen servicio y espectaculares
vistas al mar, un centro de talasoterapia con más
de 6.000 metros cuadrados dedicados a la salud
y el bienestar que fue renovado en 2021.
De la mano de Gran Canaria Natural & Active, Carmen
Duarte visitó la Finca La Laja y Bodega los
Berrazales, en Agaete, donde se realizan degustaciones
y visitas guiadas a las plantaciones de café,
naranjas y frutas tropicales y a la propia bodega,
donde se elaboran vinos tintos, blancos y rosados.
Durante esta visita, tuvo la oportunidad de saborear
la extraordinaria gastronomía que ofrece el restaurante
Casa Romántica. Asimismo, la periodista también
pudo recorrer las instalaciones del Hotel Rural
Las Longueras, descubriendo todos los secretos
que esconden sus jardines autóctonos y su colección
de cactus.
A continuación, visitó el yacimiento arqueológico y
Centro de Interpretación La Fortaleza, ubicado en
uno de los entornos naturales más impresionantes
de Gran Canaria: la Caldera de Tirajana, un museo
donde es posible adentrarse en el mundo de la arqueología
de Canarias y en el de los primeros habitantes
de la isla.
La periodista de Viajes National Geographic realizó
también una actividad de senderismo con la empresa
Climbo, especializada en todo tipo de actividades
al aire libre y asociada a Gran Canaria Natural
& Active, que le llevó a la cima del Roque Nublo,
donde pudo disfrutar del atardecer en una de las
zonas de montaña más icónicas de Gran Canaria.
Durante la segunda parte de su visita a la isla, Duarte
aprovechó su estancia en el Gloria Palace San
Agustín Thalasso & Hotel, asociado a Gran Canaria
Spa, Wellness & Health, para almorzar en su prestigioso
y reconocido restaurante Gorbea, ubicado
en el mismo hotel y que cuenta con una exquisita
y variada gastronomía, al tiempo que disfrutó de un
masaje de 50 minutos en su centro de talasoterapia.
Con Gran Canaria Blue, disfrutó asimismo de una
excursión en el mar a bordo del Spirit of the Sea,
un catamarán diseñado para la observación de cetáceos
y desde donde la periodista fue testigo del
paso de una familia de delfines. Finalmente, visitó
Puerto de Mogán, donde Carmen Duarte pudo observar
este pintoresco puerto deportivo, ubicado
en una de las urbanizaciones turísticas más bellas
y armoniosas de la isla en el que los yates y embarcaciones
deportivas se mezclan con los pequeños
pesqueros del lugar.
