Set amongst the beautifully rugged Icelandic landscape, Hotel Vos is a
small, family-run hotel where excellent service and guest comfort is the
order of the day. Its unique location at Norður-Nýjabæ farm in the village
of Þykkvibær, only 3 km from the coast, makes it the perfect location for
exploring the fascinating region of South Iceland.
This single-storey property houses a total of 18 ensuite rooms.
There are three types of rooms available, the first being a standard
room, the second a slightly larger superior room, and finally the
much bigger family room that can accommodate up to three
adults and is wheelchair accessible. All rooms are designed
in a slick contemporary style and come with a TV, work
desk, toiletries, flat screen TV, access to a hot tub, and
a complimentary breakfast buffet.
For the other meals of the day, you’re in luck: the hotel is also
home to the ever-popular Vos Restaurant. This modern and
elegant dining establishment is centred on serving a range of
hearty dishes using fresh local produce. We recommend the
Skyr Cake, which is uniquely Icelandic, tasty, and filling. What
more could you want?
One of the big draws of Hotel Vos is its rural location. It’s ideally
situated to explore the area, see some of Iceland’s most popular
attractions, and take part in adventure activities. Conveniently,
the hotel hosts a tour desk to provide information. Horse riding,
glacier tours, northern lights hunting, waterfall excursions,
hiking, and so much more can be arranged. Or, if you prefer, the
hotel can arrange a rental car so you can explore to your heart’s
content.
