Canterbury is looking at an<br />

expansion to house its largest<br />

tenant andwelcome more<br />

under its wing.<br />

The facility offersarange of<br />

community organisations<br />

space andsupporttobase their<br />

operations and has become a<br />

centralpoint of contact for Mid<br />

Canterbury since it started in<br />

1995.<br />

It currently has 22<br />

permanent, and more than 20<br />

part­time organisations as<br />

tenants.<br />

But there is awaiting list of<br />

organisationsstillseeking<br />

tenancy space.<br />

Trustees of Community<br />

House MidCanterbury<br />

Charitable Trust say it is<br />

working to acquirethe<br />

adjoining property of Smith<br />

Seeds, along Moore Street.<br />

theopportunity to purchase<br />

this site as Smith Seeds<br />

themselves, preparefor a<br />

moveto larger premises at the<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong>BusinessEstate.’’<br />

with community funders to<br />

make this purchase possible by<br />

early2023.<br />

hubwarranted the<br />

manager in 2002; prior to this<br />

itwas co­ordinated by agroup<br />

of volunteers.<br />

In late 2015 Community<br />

House MidCanterbury<br />

Charitable Trust acquiredits<br />

current building and<br />

following afullrenovation<br />

andrefit wasofficially<br />

opened in April at itsCass<br />
