It provides an audible simulation of the heart beats of a fetus inside the mother’s womb and displays the number of beats per minute. Fetal heart rate monitors are increasingly being used in the home, allowing parents to listen to their baby’s heart beat. Figure 16-9 shows the basic block diagram of a fetal heart rate monitor.
