About That Miracle Medical Procedure

Every day it seems as if there is a new miracle
remedy for looking younger. Whether you
see posts on Instagram or one of the many other
internet sites showing drastic “Before &
After’s”, it’s always good to remember,
photos can lie.
Many of the before photos look really
bad, often no make-up and uncombed
hair. Whereas the after photo is fully done
up. The lighting can also make a big
difference.
Another really important question to
ask if you are considering a procedure and
meeting with a doctor - are the photos he
shows for a procedure actually his patients that he performed the work
on?
The reason for this question is because many times the company
that provides the machines and equipment the doctors use also provide
literature that can include those photos for marketing purposes.
Also, should something go wrong, is it reversible? Like fillers. If you
get fillers and do not like them, is there an option to dissolve the type of
filler the doctor is using?
And most important to know, is this procedure one that your doctor
has done many times. Is this his specialty? You do not want to be that
first (or second) patient for a new procedure, or with new equipment.
One really good site to check for true
reviews is called RealSelf. There are
patients sharing photos and information
on every plastic surgery procedure you can
imagine. They will usually share the good
(and the bad) regarding the doctor and the
procedure itself.
Personally, I think it is more important
to know what could go wrong and what
the down side might be for anything we are
going to do electively so we are prepared
and know what to ask and what to watch out for.
The most important thing to do before any procedure is research,
research, research. Remember, it’s ok to ask questions - it’s your face
and body.
