SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Have you always wanted to learn coding and

programming? Are you analytical by nature?

Software Engineering is a rapidly growing field in

the IT sector. As our work continues to advance

technologically, companies need software

engineers to design, write and test the systems

that underpin their work. This could be anything

from video games to national health IT systems.

In your first year you will cover the basics of

software development such as fundamentals of

programming, website design and development,

software engineering principles and practice,

logic and problem solving.

Your second year will build upon the previous

year’s knowledge so that you can plan, design

and develop software according to stakeholders

and users’ requirements.

Your final year will be the culmination of

everything you have studied and applied into

your Final Year Project, demonstrating the

complete software development lifecycle.

Offering degrees that are in demand in industry

is important to us, that’s why this programme

includes an Employability Skills for Computer

Graduates module to support and assist you

when applying for jobs and graduate schemes.

The course will provide you with the opportunity

to gain work experience by working on ‘live

projects’ for local and regional employers.

We encourage you to get work experience

wherever possible alongside your studies.

By the end of your degree, you will have

sufficient knowledge, understanding and

expertise to enter employment at any stage

of the software development lifecycle.

If you have not met the entry requirements,

you can still join the degree by enrolling onto

our Foundation year. For HND holders, you can

take the final year of this degree as a degree

top-up programme.

With your degree in Software Engineering, you

can apply for job roles such as test manager,

software engineer, programmer, software

developer and systems analyst.
