First Ridden Rider is only able to compete inthe First Ridden<br />

Section foramaximum of twenty-four (<strong>24</strong>) months from the date<br />

of their first show.<br />

These classes arereservedfor riders under 10 years of age as at 1<br />

<strong>August</strong> <strong>2023</strong> on ponies that donot exceed 138cm and who are<br />

not competing in the opensection at anyA&P Shows.<br />

In this section the judging criteria is 60%suitability, temperament<br />

and safeness,and 40% confirmation and paces,with emphasis on<br />

Riding Pony Qualityand Type.<br />

First ridden ponies must be ridden in aSnaffle bridle with a<br />

cavesson noseband,snafflebit and asingle rein.<br />

Spurs are not allowed. Acane or whip not exceeding 68cm in<br />

length which includes aflap 2cm wide by 4cm long may be<br />

carried by riders.<br />

Allponies to walk and trot in companyand maybeasked to canter<br />

in their individual shows. Beforefinalising the work out theJudge<br />

must ascertain thatthe children can ALL manage canterwork. If<br />

the children arenot confident with canterthis paceshould be left<br />

out of the work out.<br />

Whatever paces the workout finally contains it must be simple and<br />

designed to showthatthe child can manage achange of direction<br />

and arecognizable circle as ademonstration of the control and<br />

understanding expectedatthis level and age.Goodmanners and<br />

willingnessfromthe ponyand the balanceand degreeofcontrol<br />

from the rider should each be taken into account.<br />

The same rider cannot enter inboth the lead rein section and<br />

First Ridden section or in an open ring however apony that has<br />

entered the Lead Rein can be entered inthe First Ridden with a<br />

differentrider (who is eligible to completeinthis section)<br />
