Kelly Owens and Ryan Demmocks<br />
purchased the long established <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> Collision Repair Centre<br />
Amberley, inSeptember, 2020.<br />
Ryan is awell known Amberley vehicle<br />
painter, who grew upinthe area. Heis<br />
also captain ofthe Amberley Senior Rugby<br />
team for <strong>2023</strong>.<br />
He used to get off the Rangiora High<br />
School bus each afternoon and start<br />
sweeping floors, and helping out inthe<br />
repair business at 105 Carters Road in<br />
Amberley when he was just 15. Staff<br />
taught him the skills he needed, and he<br />
carried on in the trade, leaving <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> Collision for five years<br />
to work at Smith Cranes toget some<br />
experience on bigger fleet vehicles and<br />
machinery, and industrial painting, before<br />
this unique opportunity arose.<br />
‘‘The owner called tosay it was for sale.<br />
We knew it was agamble especially as<br />
Covid had hit usall hard, but we took it<br />
on,’’ Ryan said.<br />
‘‘Now we have six skilled panel beaters<br />
and painters onstaff here, all eager tolook<br />
after all our clients bumps and scrapes.’’<br />

Amberley is an accredited repairer for all<br />
the major insurance companies and are<br />
part of the NZCollision Repair Association.<br />
This involves being audited every year to<br />
maintain their high standards of quality<br />
repair services and skills.<br />
Working predominantly with cars, SUVs,<br />
utes and vans, Ryan says they are also<br />
willing and eager to fix boats, farm<br />
machinery and do rust work.<br />
