The Best New Year’s Resolution<br />

If New Year’s Resolutions are all about selfimprovement<br />
like weight loss, read more, eat<br />
less, take classes - then, self-care is the only New<br />
Year’s resolution you need. It covers everything<br />
you may want to resolve, improve, and even purge.<br />
Think about it: weight loss, exercise, eating healthy,<br />
getting out more, loving yourself, setting boundaries<br />
and anything else that improves your life and lifestyle<br />
is self-care.<br />
Let go of all that overthinking! Let go of the<br />
pressure of expectations! Let go of caring for everyone<br />
but yourself.<br />
This New Year do one simple thing…do you! If you make yourself<br />
number one, if you make sure you’re good, if you drink from your cup<br />
first, if you wake up with awareness of your own needs, then you’re<br />
exercising great self-care.<br />
It doesn’t mean go out and spend freely and live as if there’s no<br />
tomorrow - but it can. It doesn’t mean treat yourself to frivolous<br />
decision-making, but it can.<br />
It means self-care is about moderation, self-awareness, selfcontrol,<br />
self-management. This includes taking care of your mental<br />
and emotional self.<br />
Self-care makes you smile, generates happiness, fosters social<br />
engagement, and offers a sense of well-being. Self-care results from a<br />
balanced diet, an active lifestyle, continuous hydration, adequate rest,<br />
good old Vitamin D, and any other activity that refreshes, rejuvenates,<br />
and restores you.<br />
Be present in your life. Know your WHY? Show gratitude and<br />
compassion. Take time at the end of a day to reflect and review.<br />
This is key to self-care because it keeps you in step<br />
with your goals and objectives. Remember, lifestyle<br />
and mindset matters! Also, detach yourself from<br />
anything that doesn’t make feel loved or appreciated.<br />
You won’t need yearly resolutions if you exercise<br />
simple Self-Care. This is positive aging!<br />
