It’s Ruta Lee!
By: Beverly Washburn / Hollywood Memories
Well here it is, 2024! Wishing you all a very
Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. I
know 2023 was
a rough one for so many people, but
let›s all keep the faith that 2024 will
be a good one for all.
I thought I’d write this month
about a wonderful, funny actress by
the name of Ruta Lee. That›s her
with me at a Superman luncheon
in which we were honoring George
Reeves.
Now she may not be a household
name in the industry, but all you
have to do is google her and you
will be amazed at all of her credits.
In fact, if I were to list all of them it
would take up the entire Vegas Voice
issue! Just one example, Ruta has a Star on The Hollywood Walk of
Fame.
Ruta is one of those actresses who was literally in just about every
television show there was - especially in the 60s, 70s, 80s and even
now! I think she appeared in every game show there was, including
Hollywood Squares and Match Game.
She was a Canadian born actress but moved to Hollywood and her
career took off. Everyone who knows her (starting with me) loves her.
Ruta is now 88 and still going strong. She’s pretty amazing really.
You’d think she was in her 60s! She
always dresses like she just stepped
off of a magazine cover and always
has a huge smile on her face. She is
one of the most delightful people I’ve
ever had the privilege of knowing.
She has a book out about her life
which is titled “Consider Your Ass
Kissed.” Yep, you read that right!
Ruta’s still a little bit naughty,
a little bit bawdy, but boy does she
make you laugh. I’ve never known
anyone who loves life more than
she does! She always loves to shock
people with her naughty sense of
humor - but ya gotta laugh.
I am grateful to know her.
Until next time, remember, Laughter is the best medicine. Photo
