Jazz Fest’s 2024 Expedia Cultural Exchange
explores Colombia’s vibrant musical and cultural
legacy. It marks the largest exchange in the
festival’s history, with nearly 200 Colombian artists
participating.
Notable Colombian representatives include Bomba
Estéreo on April 27, ChocQuibTown’s Goyo with an
exceptional performance alongside local band ÌFÉ on
April 28, and the iconic Grupo Niche closing the festival
on May 5.
Enjoy the Chirimía rhythm with Rancho Apart and the
traditional marimba with Agrupación Changó the first
weekend. Kombilesa Mi will perform on April 27 and 28,
mixing traditional Afro-Caribbean rhythms with rap in
Spanish and Palenquero, the language of Palenque, the
first town of free blacks in America.
The second weekend brings the winners from the
prestigious Petronio Álvarez Festival, Matachindé, and
the marimba fusion group Bejuco. The Caribbean fusion
arrives with the Creole Group from San Andrés on May
3 and 4.
Don’t miss cumbia, salsa, joropo, and champeta, with
performances like Jacobo Vélez’s salsa clash and Cali’s
Mambanegra. In addition, the joropo of Cimarrón and
the indigenous music with the Millo flute of Joaquín
Pérez y su Herencia Ancestral with the rhythms of the
Barranquilla Carnival on the first weekend; Lucio Feuillet
will represent the city of Pasto’s Black and White
Carnival on the second weekend.
The cultural exchange area will showcase Colombian
crafts, including backpacks, baskets, jewelry, violins,
marimbas, and more, from more than 18 artisans.
We cannot forget the Colombian flavors! Café Carmo
of New Orleans, in collaboration with chef José Blanco
of Waska, will serve Colombian street delicacies, such
as a refreshing ceviche. On May 3, guest chef Francisco
Escalona Forth will present recipes from various
regions, such as San Andrés crab stew and Cocoloco.

El Intercambio Cultural Expedia de 2024 de Jazz Fest se sumerge
en el vibrante legado musical y cultural de Colombia, marcando
el mayor intercambio en la historia del festival con la participación de
cerca de 200 artistas colombianos.
Los destacados representantes colombianos incluyen a Bomba
Estéreo el 27 de abril, Goyo de ChocQuibTown con una presentación
especial junto a la banda local ÌFÉ el 28 de abril, y el icónico Grupo
Niche cerrando el festival el 5 de mayo.
El primer fin de semana, disfruta del ritmo de chirimía con
Rancho Aparte y la marimba tradicional con la Agrupación Changó.
Kombilesa Mi, se presenta el 27 y 28 de abril con ritmos tradicionales
afrocaribes mezclados con rap en español y palenquero, idioma
de Palenque, el primer pueblo de personas de raza negra libres en
América.
El segundo fin de semana trae a los ganadores del prestigioso
festival Petronio Álvarez, Matachindé, y al grupo de marimba fusión
Bejuco. La fiesta caribeña llega con Creole Group desde San Andrés
el 3 y 4 de mayo.

bailar la salsa choque de Jacobo Vélez y la Mambanegra de Cali.
Además, el joropo de Cimarrón y la música indígena con flauta de
millo de Joaquín Pérez y su Herencia Ancestral presentan los ritmos
del Carnaval de Barranquilla el primer fin de semana. El Carnaval de
Blancos y Negros de Pasto estará representado por Lucio Feuillet el
segundo fin de semana.
El área de intercambio cultural exhibirá artesanías colombianas de
más de 18 artesanos, incluyendo mochilas, canastas, joyas, violines,
marimbas y más. ¡Prueba los sabores de Colombia! Café Carmo de
Nueva Orleans, en colaboración con el chef José Blanco de Waska,
servirán deliciosos platos típicos y un ceviche refrescante. El 3 de
mayo, el chef invitado Francisco Escalona-Forth presentará recetas
de varias regiones, como el estofado de cangrejo de San Andrés y,
por supuesto, el Cocoloco. ¡No te lo pierdas!
