While we know that people have different tastes and we
like to offer something for everyone, we’re very selective
when looking to see which stores we include in Daytripping.
It’s not uncommon for us to walk into a shop, take a look
around, and walk back out. OSA Flea
Market had called us and I met them
in an office on their property which
had a few small items in it and for
a moment I was dreading having to,

as politely as possible, talk them out of advertising with us.
Then they took me on a tour through section after section
of a very large building on the outskirts of Belle River and I
was stunned by the number of vendors and plans they have
for the inside and outside. This is a town and area that will
really benefit by having a market of this size and it’s really
worth checking out.

Among other improvements, our
new website has an interactive map
on the Google Maps platform so that
all of our customers are shown. You
can pick a shop and plan a route to
it with your phone. Or you can select
one or more categories and go on
a tour, of antique stores and garden
centres for example. Most importantly perhaps, you can be
at one of our customers great shops and find the next closest
ones to visit. Thanks to our whole team, and the leadership
of Courtney Semeniuk for bringing this to fruition.
Enter Our Contests - See pages 3 & 30
You probably know that we have a never-ending Photo
Contest (page 30) where our readers take a photo with a
cover of Daytripping in it. It’s been to the top of a mountain
and the bottom of the sea over the years. It’s simple to
enter and almost all good photos get published. We also
have a contest asking our readers to send in an article
about a daytrip they’ve taken, mentioning at least two of our
customers in it - see page 3 for more details
On a separate note we’d like to encourage photographers
to submit great shots of the destinations they see in this
magazine (and in the region we cover) for publication inside
the magazine and even on the covers.
Supply and Demand - See page 68 for starters
Several antique dealers have been telling us that, more than
ever, there are a lot of antiques available... particularly furniture.
It makes sense as the population that grew up with these
pieces ages and downsizes. It perplexes me that the younger
generations of people, who very much embrace the Reduce, Re-
Use, Recycle philosophy, haven’t caught on to the fact that they
can buy furniture that was built to last for hundreds of years for
less than they can buy cheap crap that will be worn out before
Beyonce releases another country album.

Theatre Season is beginning again in SW Ontario and
we’re honoured to be promoting
in this issue Victoria Playhouse
Petrolia (during the town’s 150th
anniversary), Walter’s Family Theatre
in Bright, Theatre Woodstock,
Drayton Entertainment which
operates seven theatres throughout
our coverage area, and Port Stanley
Festival Theatre. Let’s add Purple Hill
Country Music Hall to this list as well,
with their lineup of country music
shows. Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre and
Chatham’s Capitol Theatre are bound
to be promoting their new seasons in
our next issue. We truly wish to be
promoting all the theatres in our area
to readers who would love to know

Yes, it’s that time of year again and not a moment too soon.
We have one of our longest lists ever
of Town Wide Yard Sales with almost
100 as we go to press. This can be an
imperfect science - in most cases there
will be many yard sales (even hundreds)
all at once, but there will be a couple
duds and there’s not much we can do
to predict the future. Please find the

change your plans if you hit one of the
rare duds (and make room in the car
for all the others). You’ll also find a link
