MOTORCYCLES (to commence at approximately 2.00pm) The following lots (1300 - 1307) are consigned from the estate of the late Jeffrey Frost. A lifelong rider, enthusiast and time served mechanic, Jeff was a successful Grass Track racer with the Lowestoft Invaders on board Rudge and Norton machines amongst others. Many of the machines offered will have lifelong Norfolk provenance and hold many memories for his family. 26 All lots are sold strictly as seen without warranty, purchasers are urged to satisfy themselves prior to the sale as to the condition of each lot and whether the lot accords with its description. 1300 1950 500cc Vincent Comet Reg No. PFC 464 Frame No.RC/1/5751 Engine No.F5AB/2A/3851 Despatched from the factory on the 5th April 1950, the pre-registered Comet went to Kings dealership in Oxford however, it is likely to have been in the current ownership since close to that moment in time. The Smiths speedometer on its modified mount displays just 40,743 miles and the only obvious deviation from standard is the vents fitted to the front drums. Importantly the upper and lower frames match and all of the relevant numbers match the original factory works sheet which has been verified by the Vincent Owners Club. Presented in nice original ‘as used’ condition, the last road fund license expired in December 2009 and the Comet is supplied with current V5 documentation. Estimate £8,000 - £10,000 1301 1935 250cc Rudge 250 Sports Reg No. PV 2471 Frame No.54024 Engine No.T748 Clearly a work in progress, the radial head, four valve, twin port Rudge had been in Jeff’s long term ownership and, as viewed, the tank and bars were only loosely assembled. Comparison with archive images would indicate that all of the major components are substantially correct in appearance, the rear brake linkage has been recently manufactured as has one of the high level silencers. An extremely rare Rudge model, this is an opportunity to restore and return to standard a rapid 250cc machine that has the Rudge racing heritage, still bearing a 1957 tax disc and supplied with current V5 documentation. 1302 1930 500cc Rudge Whitworth 500 Reg No. VH 636 Frame No.37663 Engine No.881 The engine on this example of the Rudge carries the forward mounted magneto and semi radial iron head of the later Ulster models although the engine number lacks the ‘U’ prefix. The iron head has been painted bronze, hand gear change is in place connected to the Rudge Whitworth gearbox and the fuel is supplied via the remote float bowl Amal carburettor. The twin port single carries many non-standard parts and has clearly seen much modification during its long term ownership. Requiring some ‘TLC’ to bring it up to a road-worthy standard, the Rudge is presented in honest oily rag condition together with V5 documentation and related paperwork including a 1957 tax disc. A fine restoration opportunity. Estimate £2,000 - £3,000 1303 1929 500cc BSA M29 Sloper Reg No. VW 3806 Frame No.P7141 Engine No.P7095 A wonderful oily rag condition example of the ‘sloper’ sidecar tug that has been in lifelong ownership by Jeff Frost and indeed his father before him. A substantially original machine but carrying a few modifications that are the natural result of long term use. Absolutely ripe for a sympathetic restoration, the Norwich registered M29 is supplied with current V5 documentation, buff logbook and other related documentation. Estimate £3,000 - £4,000 1304 1959 500cc Norton Dominator International Special Reg No. 346 NG Frame No.P3181512 Engine No. See text A very much modified machine that is fitted with an International engine believed to have been previously used in one of Jeff’s grass track outfits. The engine numbers would indicate that the bottom end is a 1937 International to Manx GP specification (no.80218) whilst the top end (no.82904) is of 1938 date to the same specification, the engine is clearly further modified for lighting purposes amongst others. The combination of the racing engine in a featherbed frame is a potent one and the special was in regular use, the 2009 tax disc indicates that Jeff was still able to terrorise the sea front aged 78. The bikes original engine (No.99SS- 7397) is present and supplied with the bike giving the successful purchaser the option of converting back to standard whilst still being in possession of a highly desirable and sought after power-plant. A great old school special with an enviable engine, the whole plot would benefit greatly from cosmetic attention and is supplied with current V5, old logbook and other related documentation.
