Republic of Ireland minimum hire is 2 days.
Driver Qualifications
• All drivers must have a valid driver’s licence issued in their country
of residence, held for at least 12 months. For Italy and Spain an
international drivers licence is mandatory. Other countries may
also require an international drivers licence, please check with your
travel agent prior to booking.
• In UK and Europe minimum and maximum age restrictions apply
and may vary between countries, details available on application.
• Young Driver surcharges apply in some countries. Age and
car type selected will impact surcharge amounts, details
on application.
Deposits
A minimum deposit or credit card imprint at the commencement
of the rental to cover fuel and optional services will be required.

Hertz car hire

One Way Rentals – “Rent it here, leave it there”
Europe: One-way rentals are permitted for certain car groups,
these vary between countries in Europe, but in most cases a
minimum rental of seven days will apply. Details available
on application.
United Kingdom: One-way rentals are permitted within United
Kingdom, including between Britain and Northern Ireland. A fee
may apply between Britain and Northern Ireland which varies and
there may be restrictions with various car types.
Special Conditions
• Additional drivers; charges for additional drivers apply and vary
between countries. These charges are to be paid in local currency
on collection of the vehicle. Details available on application.
• Cars may be driven from mainland Britain into continental Europe,
Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, however, VE103B
coverage is required and a fee will apply and the car must be
returned to mainland Britain.
• Any extension of rentals will be charged at the local retail price,
valid at the pick-up rental depot.
• Cars collected in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland cannot
be driven into continental Europe.
Included Insurance
• Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) removes the additional financial
responsibility for damage to the vehicle over and above the
standard excess amount on the hire as long as the terms of the
rental agreement are not violated. Details of the standard excess
are available on application.
• Theft Protection (TP) removes the additional financial
responsibility for loss or theft of the vehicle over and above the
standard excess amount on the hire as long as the terms of the
rental agreement are not violated. Details of the standard excesses
are available on application.
• Third Party Liability Unlimited cover against bodily injury to Third
Party or damage to property of Third Party.

Optional Insurance
Hertz has a number of optional insurance packages available at time
of hire to reduce excess amounts or provide additional personal

Location Service Charge (LSC)
This charge applies to premium depot locations where cars are
collected at airports, key city centre locations and railway stations.
Vehicle Licensing Fee (VLF)
This is a car registration fee which applies across the United
Kingdom and Europe but is not applicable in the Republic of Ireland
or Spain.
Costs that are not Included
Fuel, road tolls and London Congestion charge.
London Congestion Charge
Transport for London (Tfl) levies a Congestion Charge of GBP10.00
per day for driving in central London, Mondays to Fridays (7.00am
to 6.00pm), excluding weekends and public holidays. It is the
customers responsibility to register the vehicle you are driving
on a central database and to pay the charge each day you travel
within the applicable zone. If you are renting from locations inside
the zone (St Pancras, Russell Square, London Victoria and Marble
Arch) Hertz pays the first day’s charge and adds this charge to your
rental agreement. Additional days must be paid by the customer.
If the charge is not paid by midnight on the day of your journey,
and is paid by midnight the following day, the charge increases to
GBP12.00 and can only be paid either via the Hertz call centre or on
the Tfl website. Charges can be paid daily by cash, cheque or credit
card at selected retail outlets including post offices, petrol stations
and nominated pay points.
