To <strong>the</strong> beloved Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj<br />

<strong>Rays</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Absolute</strong>: A Gita For Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj,<br />

is an attempt to <strong>of</strong>fer a song, prose, verses or sutras, to<br />

my beloved Teacher, Guru and Spiritual Mentor, as a way<br />

to honor him, (The Maharaj Principle) as <strong>the</strong> <strong>Absolute</strong>.<br />

It is with <strong>the</strong> deepest reverence that each sentence was<br />

written.<br />

To My beloved Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj,<br />

whose teachings have been with me<br />

and changed <strong>the</strong> course <strong>of</strong> this life.<br />

Some forty years ago, I longed for one document to<br />

“tell me <strong>the</strong> way it is”. I always wanted to cut through all<br />

<strong>the</strong> spiritual roundabout and be exposed to such a form<br />

and Teacher. In <strong>the</strong> early 1970’s, I read my first copy <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Bhagavad Gita, and rejoiced at its, beauty, I actually<br />

felt like Krishna was speaking to me, and it was all in<br />

one book. Of course “I” came to realize that appreciating<br />

and imbibing such a document was a life’s work. By <strong>the</strong><br />

early 1970’s, words <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Buddha from <strong>the</strong> Heart Sutra,<br />

“Form is emptiness, emptiness is form”, or <strong>the</strong> Diamond<br />

Sutra, “No being has ever entered Nirvana”, began to fall<br />

into my hands at <strong>the</strong> now famous Bodhi Tree Bookstore<br />

in Los Angeles, California.<br />

“I” began to fantasize that more <strong>the</strong>n likely <strong>the</strong><br />

verses, gitas, sutras, etc, were attempts to write down in<br />

short Zen like Koan’s, teachings that were brief sayings
