“Make Call” option, then the instruction prompt is played only prior to the first call
origination. If, during the same session, the VP user invokes the “Initiate Call To Sender”
option multiple times, then the instruction prompt is played prior to the first call origination.
The instruction prompt is not played prior to the subsequent call originations in that
context.
The instruction prompt is: At any time during the call, press ## to return to the Voice
Portal.
The Terminate-Call function depends on the repeater service of the Media Server. Upon
initiating a call from the Voice Portal, a pair of repeaters is set up on the Media Server and
the media stream between the VP user and the called party is hair-pinned back to the
Media Server repeaters. Each repeater works in a particular direction and repeats the
received media to the other party. In the transmit direction, the media stream is also
repeated to an IVR session that allows the collection of the escape sequence.
The following diagram shows how the media stream between the VP user and the called
party transits via the Media Server.
During the set up of the call, the Application Server queries the Network Server to obtain a
list of Media Servers that provide the repeater service. The Application Server attempts to
allocate the repeater pair on one of the listed Media Servers. The eventually selected
Media Server can be the same as the Media Server used for the Voice Portal IVR session.
If the repeater service is not available, then the Terminate-Call function is not available
and the media path is established directly from the VP user’s device to the called party’s
device. In these cases, the instruction prompt is not played to the VP user prior to
establishing the call.
Notice that each call originated from the Voice Portal requires three Media Server ports for
the duration of the call, that is, two repeater ports and one IVR port.
