1 Introduction This document describes new capabilities added for the Release 11 BroadWorks platform. The changes cover the following areas: � User services – These changes introduce new user services or enhance existing user services. � Group services – These changes include new group services, enhancements to existing group services, and enhancements to the management capabilities of the group administrator. � Messaging services – These changes include new functionality and changes to the existing messaging capabilities of BroadWorks. � Operations, administration, and maintenance – These changes introduce new capabilities in the areas of faults, performance, security, provisioning, configuration, and accounting. � System – These changes introduce new capabilities and enhance the existing functionality of the BroadWorks system in the areas of protocols, components, and internationalization. 2 User Services 2.1 Auto Attendant Immediate Extension Dialing Feature ID(s): 13120 The group administrator can allow callers to dial an extension from the first-level menu. In the current Auto Attendant, the caller can only dial an extension from a second-level menu. 2.1.1 Description In Release 10, the Auto Attendant supported extension dialing. However, extension dialing is only possible as a submenu option. When extension dialing is enabled, a caller hears a message similar to this: “If you know your party’s extension, press 1”. If the caller presses 1, then the caller hears another announcement: “Please dial the extension for the party you are trying to reach”. In Release 11, a new option is added to speed up the Auto Attendant interface for extension dialing. The “First-Level Extension Dialing” option allows the administrator to enable or disable immediate extension dialing for a given Auto Attendant. When the feature is enabled, the caller to the Auto Attendant can dial the desired extension immediately from the first level of the Auto Attendant menu without having to first navigate to the second level. 2.2 Auto Attendant Dial by First Name Feature ID(s): 13121 The group administrator can allow name dialing from a combined first name and last name list in addition to the current last name and first name list. 2.2.1 Description Currently, the BroadWorks Auto Attendant supports name dialing. The list of names is constructed by concatenating the last name and first name for each person in the directory. Therefore, a caller can dial “Doe, John”, but not “John Doe”. In this release, this capability is extended to support First-Name and Last-Name Dialing in addition to Last-Name and First-Name Dialing. This feature is optional and can be enabled and disabled by the administrator. When enabled, a caller can dial “Doe, John,” or “John Doe”. BROADWORKS FUNCTIONAL SUMMARY 2O-BD5013-00 PAGE 7 OF 93
