1989 - Spokane Public Schools

This year's marching band brought Ti-
ger Pride out of the school and into the
limelight as they performed half-time
shows and football games and in the Lilac
Parade,
The half-time shows were "Very good",
according to freshman Rachel Evans who
caught their performance at Joe Albi Stadium,
"Dos Equs", "Bump City", and
"Winds of Sonora" were included in the
half-time show line up,
Despite over half of the band being new
members, band director Mr, Jay was
pleased with the groups performances,
"This year's group was a more dedicated
and better playing group", This dedication
and talent led to a strong showing at
the W,S,U, annual band competition held
October 29,
The color guard, who performed with
the marching band, sported new uniforms
this year, along with flashy, more de-

manding routines, Captain Sherri Fulton
stated, "It was a lot more difficult than the
past years",
In November the Tiger Band got off
their feet and. for the winter, became the
LCHS Symphonic Band, This group held
concerts for the public on January 26,
March 31, and April 27. On the 3rd, and
4th, of March they had the opportunity to
travel along with Jazz Band. to Nelson,
B,C. to participate in the annual "Music
Fest" band competition,
Warm weather was met with the band
dusting off their marching shoes and performing
in the annual Lilac Torchlight Parade,
It was a busy year for band and director
Mr, Jay summed it up by saying, "i
don't think anyone else in school is as active
as we are,"
