This year's marching band brought Ti-<br />

ger Pride out of the school and into the<br />

limelight as they performed half-time<br />

shows and football games and in the Lilac<br />

Parade,<br />

The half-time shows were "Very good",<br />

according to freshman Rachel Evans who<br />

caught their performance at Joe Albi Stadium,<br />

"Dos Equs", "Bump City", and<br />

"Winds of Sonora" were included in the<br />

half-time show line up,<br />

Despite over half of the band being new<br />

members, band director Mr, Jay was<br />

pleased with the groups performances,<br />

"This year's group was a more dedicated<br />

and better playing group", This dedication<br />

and talent led to a strong showing at<br />

the W,S,U, annual band competition held<br />

October 29,<br />

The color guard, who performed with<br />

the marching band, sported new uniforms<br />

this year, along with flashy, more de-<br />

manding routines, Captain Sherri Fulton<br />

stated, "It was a lot more difficult than the<br />

past years",<br />

In November the Tiger Band got off<br />

their feet and. for the winter, became the<br />

LCHS Symphonic Band, This group held<br />

concerts for the public on January 26,<br />

March 31, and April 27. On the 3rd, and<br />

4th, of March they had the opportunity to<br />

travel along with Jazz Band. to Nelson,<br />

B,C. to participate in the annual "Music<br />

Fest" band competition,<br />

Warm weather was met with the band<br />

dusting off their marching shoes and performing<br />

in the annual Lilac Torchlight Parade,<br />

It was a busy year for band and director<br />

Mr, Jay summed it up by saying, "i<br />

don't think anyone else in school is as active<br />

as we are,"<br />
