MGT 5002 CORPORATE FINANCE (3 credits).<br />
Covers concepts and tools <strong>of</strong> corporate financial<br />
management including corporate financial<br />
planning, forecasting, budgeting, quantitative<br />
techniques and practices. Considers the importance<br />
<strong>of</strong> ethics and the international aspects in financial<br />
decision-making. Prerequisites: MGT 5000.<br />
MGT 5003 PUBLIC FINANCE (3 credits). Covers<br />
concepts and methods <strong>of</strong> financial management<br />
in federal, state and local governments including<br />
the analysis <strong>of</strong> the theory and practice <strong>of</strong> public<br />
finance through taxation, debt instruments, intergovernmental<br />
funds and other revenue sources.<br />
Reviews financial planning, forecasting, budgeting<br />
and financial management practices. Prerequisites:<br />
MGT 5000.<br />
MGT 5006 INTRODUCTORY MANAGERIAL<br />
STATISTICS (3 credits). <strong>Studies</strong> methods <strong>of</strong> collecting,<br />
analyzing and interpreting data for managerial<br />
decision making. Includes data presentation,<br />
measures <strong>of</strong> central tendency, dispersion and skewness;<br />
discrete and continuous probability distributions;<br />
sampling methods and sampling distributions;<br />
and confidence interval estimation <strong>of</strong> parameters<br />
and tests <strong>of</strong> hypotheses.<br />
MGT 5007 INTERMEDIATE MANAGERIAL<br />
STATISTICS (3 credits). Applies statistical theory<br />
to managerial problems, particularly methods <strong>of</strong> statistical<br />
inference for management decision-making.<br />
Includes F- and Chi-square distributions, nonparametric<br />
tests, analysis <strong>of</strong> variance, regression and<br />
correlation analysis. Prerequisites: MGT 5006.<br />
MGT 5008 FINANCE SEMINAR (3 credits).<br />
Discusses advanced topics in finance including<br />
current activity, and financial tools and strategy.<br />
Blends financial theory with current practices in<br />
finance. Prerequisites: MGT 5002.<br />
MGT 5010 SEMINAR IN RESEARCH METH-<br />
ODOLOGY (3 credits). Reviews research methods<br />
in managerial disciplines. Includes nature and<br />
sources <strong>of</strong> secondary data, primary data collection<br />
techniques, design <strong>of</strong> research projects, sample<br />
selection, model building, etc. Requires a research<br />
proposal and presentation <strong>of</strong> a fully documented<br />
research report on the results <strong>of</strong> the study.<br />
MGT 5011 MANAGEMENT THEORY AND<br />
THOUGHT (3 credits). Overviews classical and<br />
contemporary management philosophies and theories.<br />
Focuses on managing enterprises in a rapidly<br />
changing global economy. Includes developing<br />
strategic vision, planning, organizing, directing<br />
and controlling, social responsibility and international<br />
management.<br />
MGT 5013 ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR (3<br />
credits). Covers the contributions to management<br />
theory made by the behavioral sciences. Gives a better<br />
understanding <strong>of</strong> the human being and why<br />
he acts as he does. <strong>Studies</strong> individual and group<br />
behavior. Extensively uses current periodicals and<br />
case materials.<br />
MGT 5014 INFORMATION SYSTEMS (3 credits).<br />
<strong>Studies</strong> information systems design associated<br />
with business organizations. Includes development<br />
life cycles, requirements analysis, systems design<br />
and performance considerations. Views information<br />
systems as strategic tools to provide competitive<br />
advantage.<br />
MGT 5015 ORGANIZATIONAL PLANNING<br />
AND DEVELOPMENT (3 credits). <strong>Studies</strong> the<br />
concepts, theory, research and operational problems<br />
<strong>of</strong> modern organizations. Includes classical<br />
and modern organizational theory, emphasizing<br />
the latter. Covers recent research findings and the<br />
theory <strong>of</strong> human relations in industry. Involves<br />
students in case studies.<br />
MGT 5016 EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (3 credits).<br />
Analyzes, synthesizes and evaluates the major<br />
federal and state laws that impinge on the modern<br />
work environment. Draws on new insights in<br />
the human resources management discipline to<br />
abstract, summarize and evaluate the impact <strong>of</strong> legislation<br />
and laws regulating the employee/employer<br />
relationship.<br />
MGT 5017 PROGRAM MANAGEMENT (3<br />
credits). Addresses responsibility and authority <strong>of</strong><br />
a program manager and the integration <strong>of</strong> program<br />
functions in complex organizational structures.<br />
Discusses interpersonal relationships within matrix<br />
organizations, as well as program conflict resolution<br />
and organizational priorities.<br />
MGT 5018 POLICY AND STRATEGY FOR BUSI-<br />
NESS (3 credits). Covers formulation and implementation<br />
<strong>of</strong> competitive strategies and the role <strong>of</strong><br />
top management, using case analyses to expose the<br />
multifunctional nature <strong>of</strong> decision-making. As program<br />
capstone, requires significant research activity<br />
or project to demonstrate mastery. Recommended<br />
for the graduating semester. Prerequisites: MGT<br />

MGT 5019 MARKETING (3 credits). Approaches<br />
the marketing function from the point <strong>of</strong> view <strong>of</strong> the<br />
marketing manager. Examines the role <strong>of</strong> marketing<br />
in the firm, the economy and society. Introduces<br />
marketing concepts and operational approaches<br />
for marketing decision-making. Employs the case<br />
method to apply theory to the development <strong>of</strong> a<br />
marketing mix.<br />
MGT 5020 APPLIED MANAGEMENT PROJ-<br />
ECT (3 credits). Covers concepts, tools and techniques<br />
for evaluation <strong>of</strong> research proposals and<br />
studies. Involves designing, conducting, evaluating<br />
