MGT 5021 BUSINESS LAW (3 credits). <strong>Studies</strong><br />

how to understand, analyze and effectively deal with<br />

issues such as jurisprudence, contracts, property,<br />

agency, partnerships, corporations, sales, commercial<br />

paper and secured transactions. Also studies<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> the Uniform Commercial Code.<br />

MGT 5022 ANALYTICAL METHODS FOR<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Introduces the<br />

fundamental concepts in business mathematics.<br />

Includes linear systems, linear programming<br />

(graphical method), matrices and logarithms; and<br />

differential calculus and its applications. Noncredit<br />

for graduate management programs except to meet<br />

foundation requirements.<br />

MGT 5023 MANAGEMENT AND ADMINIS-<br />

TRATION OF CONTRACTS (3 credits). Offers a<br />

comprehensive analysis <strong>of</strong> the procurement process<br />

and the resulting contractual relationships. Topics<br />

range from a history <strong>of</strong> procurement through considerations<br />

dealing with applicable laws, policies,<br />

regulations, methods <strong>of</strong> contracting, types <strong>of</strong> contracts<br />

and cost-pricing principles.<br />

MGT 5024 PRODUCTION AND OPERATIONS<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Introduces the translation<br />

<strong>of</strong> product and service requirements into<br />

facilities, procedures and operating organizations.<br />

Includes product design, production alternatives,<br />

facilities location and layout, resource requirements<br />

planning and quality control.<br />

MGT 5026 COMPUTER APPLICATIONS FOR<br />

BUSINESS (3 credits). Emphasizes a hands-on<br />

approach to solving business applications using<br />

computer applications. Includes discussion <strong>of</strong><br />

the most recent developments in computer hardware,<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tware, programming techniques, computer<br />

ethics and security. Noncredit for graduate<br />

management programs except to meet foundation<br />

requirements.<br />

MGT 5031 SEMINAR IN INTERNATIONAL<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Focuses on the problems<br />

<strong>of</strong> the senior executive in the management <strong>of</strong><br />

the multinational firm. Examines executive decision<br />

making within the scope <strong>of</strong> international concerns<br />

relative to various economic, political and cultural<br />

environments.<br />

MGT 5033 HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGE-<br />

MENT (3 credits). Explores issues surrounding the<br />

employment <strong>of</strong> human resources in various organizational<br />

settings using lectures/guided discussions<br />

and case studies. May include recruitment/selection,<br />

job analyses/evaluation, equal employment<br />

opportunity, training/development, compensation/benefits,<br />

appraisal, labor relations, health and<br />

safety, and separation/retirement.<br />

MGT 5034 LAW, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCI-<br />

ETY (3 credits). Critically examines the impact <strong>of</strong><br />

technology on the legal system and social organization,<br />

origin and methodology <strong>of</strong> the common law.<br />

Provides a framework for analyzing social change<br />

caused by advancing technology. Analyzes legal<br />

concepts from the standpoint <strong>of</strong> societal reaction<br />

to technology. Uses the case study method.<br />

MGT 5035 PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND<br />

MANAGEMENT (3 credits). Focuses on the<br />

problems <strong>of</strong> administrative management in public<br />

agencies and presents methods and strategies to<br />

remedy administrative management problems. Uses<br />

case studies to apply principles <strong>of</strong> effective public<br />

administrative management.<br />

MGT 5037 GLOBAL ECONOMIC ENVIRON-<br />

MENT OF BUSINESS (3 credits). Focuses on<br />

the importance and impact <strong>of</strong> foreign trade for the<br />

world economies. Emphasizes balance <strong>of</strong> trade,<br />

technology transfer and service economies, and<br />

trade barriers, GATT, NAFTA, the World Bank<br />

and other issues related to global trade. Prerequisites:<br />

MGT 5149.<br />

MGT 5039 ECONOMETRICS (3 credits). <strong>Studies</strong><br />

construction <strong>of</strong> econometric models with application<br />

in business and economic analyses. Includes<br />

single equation regression models, autoregressive<br />

and distributed-lag models, dummy variables,<br />

simultaneous-equation models and methods. Covers<br />

problems and remedies for violations <strong>of</strong> classical<br />

model assumptions. Prerequisites: MGT 5007,<br />

MGT 5132, MGT 5133.<br />

MGT 5040 PUBLIC PROGRAM POLICY AND<br />

EVALUATION (3 credits). Uses techniques for<br />

evaluating the effectiveness, efficiency, responsiveness,<br />

equity and trade-<strong>of</strong>fs <strong>of</strong> public programs.<br />

Applies various evaluation techniques and methods<br />

to public programs in the federal, state and local<br />

government agencies.<br />

MGT 5041 FEDERAL INCOME TAX (3 credits).<br />

Covers federal income taxes for individuals, corporations<br />

and partnerships. Includes procedure and<br />

administration <strong>of</strong> federal tax law and federal tax<br />

research. Prerequisites: MGT 5000.<br />

MGT 5042 INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS (3<br />

credits). Addresses world environments and specific<br />

international business activities such as foreign<br />

investment and international marketing. Examines<br />

the decision-making process for going abroad, along<br />

with current issues in international business. Prerequisites:<br />

MGT 5002, MGT 5019.<br />

MGT 5047 NEW VENTURE DEVELOPMENT<br />

(3 credits). Introduces the new venture development<br />

process, including all the steps in the process,<br />

the behaviors and characteristics <strong>of</strong> entrepreneurs,<br />

creating the business concept, the business plan,<br />

financing and growth management. Prerequisites:<br />

MGT 5002, MGT 5019.<br />

MGT 5048 MARKETING ANALYSIS AND<br />

STRATEGY (3 credits). Includes advanced analysis<br />

<strong>of</strong> current marketing opportunities and problems<br />

stemming from the changing social, economic<br />

and political environments. Entails preparation <strong>of</strong><br />

detailed marketing programs for all or part <strong>of</strong> an
