Prestigious Accolades for Marina Bay Financial Centre Hongkong Land joint venture development Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) has won two prizes in the prestigious international FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards 2012, which recognize the world’s outstanding real estate developments. MBFC, which is Singapore’s largest mixed-use development in the new downtown, clinched the top award in the Office category while Marina Bay Residences (MBR), the residential component of Phase 1 of MBFC, was runner-up in the Residential (High Rise) category. “The FIABCI awards reinforce MBFC’s position as an outstanding development and enhance Singapore’s status as a key financial hub with world-class infrastructure,” said Warren Bishop, Chief Executive Officer of Raffles Quay Asset Management, which manages MBFC. Phase 1 of MBFC was judged among 60 other projects from 13 countries in 14 categories by an international panel of top real estate experts and industry professionals. The development was lauded for its innovative and cutting-edge architecture as well as its innovative mix of office space, waterfront homes and retail mall. It also won praise for the successful use of its prime waterfront locale and efficient use of land, as well as the efforts to minimize the environmental and social impact during the construction process. Wellcome Scores High as Hong Kong’s ‘Most Liked’ Supermarket For the second successive year, Wellcome Hong Kong has been voted ‘Hong Kong People’s Most Liked Supermarket’ scoring high points for its quality service and extensive 272-store network. The annual survey of local people’s shopping preferences is conducted by leading market research specialist IPSOS. Over the last few years, Wellcome Hong Kong has further strengthened the popularity of its brand by pioneering a new Superstore concept aimed at enticing customers with simpler furnishings, softer lighting and a more spacious in-store environment. Branches have opened more special counters such as sushi, fresh local pork and Southeast Asian food stalls. Some Wellcome Superstores have also introduced popular ‘Bread Talk’ outlets. To keep food even fresher and safer, Wellcome Hong Kong has invested in a 160,000 sq. ft fresh food-processing centre, which is the largest facility of its kind in Asia. Internationally approved agricultural practices are applied during all fresh food source monitoring as well as stringent periodic sampling and testing of foodstuffs to ensure that health and safety are enforced throughout the supply chain. MBFC qualified for the international Prix d’Excellence Awards 2012 following its success in the inaugural FIABCI Singapore Property Awards 2011, where Phase 1 and MBR also clinched awards in the Office and Residential (High Rise) categories respectively.
