an easy task finding our way in such
a complex and sensitive area, so we
were lucky to gain the support of many
professionals that were already active
in the sector,” said Mr Keswick.
Looking forward, Mr Keswick told
his audience that the Group remains
committed to MINDSET.
“We shall be continuing our
programmes and creating new
ones to strengthen mental health
in our community. We are also
taking MINDSET further afield, with
Bread Making Fun at Mandarin Oriental
Group Managing Director and MINDSET
Chairman Ben Keswick enjoyed the fun of
making bread doughnuts, and cookies along
with members of the New Life Psychiatric
Rehabilitation Association at a bakery workshop
organized by Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong.
Executive Pastry Chef Yves Matthey taught
participants the techniques of making great
tasting and beautiful-looking cookies. They
were then given the basic ingredients to create
their own masterpiece.
“There was a very happy atmosphere,” said
Mr Keswick after the workshop. “New Life’s
members were so creative and we all had a
fantastic time making cookies for ourselves.”
Singapore already up and running. So
there is a lot more to come.”
As well as paying tribute to the hard
work of all those who have been
involved with MINDSET, the tenth
anniversary brochure also outlines
the impressive achievements of the
past decade.
“MINDSET’s programmes are many
and include peer education at 20
schools annually; a residential
home opened in 2010; job training
and employment within the Jardine
The support and guidance of many people such as
Ophelia Chan and Deborah Wan has been key to the
success of MINDSET.
Matheson Group; the creation of a
social centre for service users and
their families; and programmes
to help the children of the 2008
Sichuan earthquake come to
terms with the trauma and grow in
confidence,” says Mr Keswick in the
Chairman’s message.
“Reducing stigma is a long process
and there is still some way to go,
but MINDSET has touched tens of
thousands of lives in Hong Kong.”
