drive (reverSe) the ChArGe for SoCiAl juStiCe
ECU Criminology, Law and Forensic Investigation students
may have the opportunity to gain experience while working
towards an important cause, with ECU’s Criminal Justice Review
Project. This ‘Innocence Project’ is committed to exonerating
the wrongfully convicted. Selected students join the project to
work on real cases and appeals, under the supervision of ECU
academics and criminal barristers.

At ECU, I was taught by people who had worked, or were
currently working in the industry. The contacts that I made
and the opportunities that arose from them were very
valuable. These contacts made it possible to take part in
extracurricular activities like the Innocence Project. I also
participated in the Health of Prisoners examination, which
was both challenging and rewarding.

Many of our Law and Justice staff draw on their industry
experience to create challenging classroom environments and
discussions that address real-world issues. Our lecturers and
tutors are committed to actively engaging with industry and the
community to ensure students receive opportunities to develop
their professional skills and academic theory through relevant
work placements.
Get hAndS-on prACtiCAl experienCe on CAmpuS
Law students may be invited to assist with real-life cases
under the supervision of legal practitioners at the on-campus
Joondalup Community Legal Centre.
The Centre provides legal information and advice to the
community in the areas of family and criminal law, domestic
violence, tenancy, elder abuse and some areas of civil law.
For Law students this offers vital practical experience.
