General Conditions for publishing in Archivos de Oftalmología de Buenos Aires
o Units must be in the decimal metric
system.
o The only acceptable abbreviations and
signs are those universally accepted (i.e., cm,
Na, mW). When a complex syntagm is repeated
several times, the acronym thereof may be
included in subsequent appearances.
o Clinical research involving human beings
must include a photocopy of the authorisation
of the appropriate ethical committee. If the
work includes animal experiments, the paper
must include a statement that the experiments
complied with applicable regulations.
o The presentation must follow the
following order:
· Identification page;
· Abstract and key words page/s
· Text page/s
· Bibliography page/s
· Captions for illustrations page/s
· Illustrations (tables and figures)
All pages must have sequential numbering
starting from the identification page. The author
must keep a copy of all remittances.
o Identification page.
It must include:
· Article title, as illustrative and concise
as possible, written first in Spanish and then in
English. Maximum 8 words recommended; if
longer, preferably divided in main and secondary
titles. Whenever possible, utilise terms from
the «Medical Subject Headings» (MeSH) of the
Index Medicus;
· Name and one or two surnames of
each author, with the highest academic degrees
and membership of institutions. To facilitate
searches of the article author/s in MEDLINE, we
recommend the adoption of a nom de plume
or pseudonym with only one surname. If it were
essential to include two surnames, both should
be joined by a dash (-) ; in the case of middle
names, the first name may be give followed by
the initial of the second one to avoid confusing it
with the first surname;
· Name of the main institution/s (in

the official language thereof) followed by
the subordinate institution/s (Department/s,
Services, Sections and the like) in the order of
organisational dependency; the exclusive use
of the acronym which usually identifies said
institution must be avoided;
· Place and country in which the
institution is based
· Disclaimer, if applicable
· Name, address and email of the author
responsible for correspondence on the article (an
email address must be included in all cases)
· Mention, if desired, of having presented
the work (fully or partially) at a national or
international Congress, indicating title, city and
date thereof
· The supporting sources such as
subsidies, equipment, drugs or all the above
· A brief title or footnote not exceeding 40
characters (counting words and spaces) located
and identified at the foot of the first page
o Authors
All those included as authors must be able to
prove their authorship
To this end, an author is anyone who made a
substantial contribution to:
· The conception and design or the
analysis and interpretation of the data;
· The wording of the article or a critical
review of its intellectual content
· The final approval of the text to be sent
The signing authors should meet
these three conditions. Simple participation in
fundraising or data gathering, as well as general
supervision of the research group, does not merit
authorship.
The journal editor may request the
authors to explain their authorship.
The author must indicate in the
Identification page the journal section where the
article is to be published.
o Commercial interest and assignment
of rights
Authors must declare any specific
commercial interest in the product, equipment
of process discussed in the article or in any
product, equipment or process of competitors.
