General Conditions for publishing in Archivos <strong>de</strong> <strong>Oftalmología</strong> <strong>de</strong> Buenos Aires<br />

o Units must be in the <strong>de</strong>cimal metric<br />

system.<br />

o The only acceptable abbreviations and<br />

signs are those universally accepted (i.e., cm,<br />

Na, mW). When a complex syntagm is repeated<br />

several times, the acronym thereof may be<br />

inclu<strong>de</strong>d in subsequent appearances.<br />

o Clinical research involving human beings<br />

must inclu<strong>de</strong> a photocopy of the authorisation<br />

of the appropriate ethical committee. If the<br />

work inclu<strong>de</strong>s animal experiments, the paper<br />

must inclu<strong>de</strong> a statement that the experiments<br />

complied with applicable regulations.<br />

o The presentation must follow the<br />

following or<strong>de</strong>r:<br />

· I<strong>de</strong>ntification page;<br />

· Abstract and key words page/s<br />

· Text page/s<br />

· Bibliography page/s<br />

· Captions for illustrations page/s<br />

· Illustrations (tables and figures)<br />

All pages must have sequential numbering<br />

starting from the i<strong>de</strong>ntification page. The author<br />

must keep a copy of all remittances.<br />

o I<strong>de</strong>ntification page.<br />

It must inclu<strong>de</strong>:<br />

· Article title, as illustrative and concise<br />

as possible, written first in Spanish and then in<br />

English. Maximum 8 words recommen<strong>de</strong>d; if<br />

longer, preferably divi<strong>de</strong>d in main and secondary<br />

titles. Whenever possible, utilise terms from<br />

the «Medical Subject Headings» (MeSH) of the<br />

In<strong>de</strong>x Medicus;<br />

· Name and one or two surnames of<br />

each author, with the highest aca<strong>de</strong>mic <strong>de</strong>grees<br />

and membership of institutions. To facilitate<br />

searches of the article author/s in MEDLINE, we<br />

recommend the adoption of a nom <strong>de</strong> plume<br />

or pseudonym with only one surname. If it were<br />

essential to inclu<strong>de</strong> two surnames, both should<br />

be joined by a dash (-) ; in the case of middle<br />

names, the first name may be give followed by<br />

the initial of the second one to avoid confusing it<br />

with the first surname;<br />

· Name of the main institution/s (in<br />

the official language thereof) followed by<br />

the subordinate institution/s (Department/s,<br />

Services, Sections and the like) in the or<strong>de</strong>r of<br />

organisational <strong>de</strong>pen<strong>de</strong>ncy; the exclusive use<br />

of the acronym which usually i<strong>de</strong>ntifies said<br />

institution must be avoi<strong>de</strong>d;<br />

· Place and country in which the<br />

institution is based<br />

· Disclaimer, if applicable<br />

· Name, address and email of the author<br />

responsible for correspon<strong>de</strong>nce on the article (an<br />

email address must be inclu<strong>de</strong>d in all cases)<br />

· Mention, if <strong>de</strong>sired, of having presented<br />

the work (fully or partially) at a national or<br />

international Congress, indicating title, city and<br />

date thereof<br />

· The supporting sources such as<br />

subsidies, equipment, drugs or all the above<br />

· A brief title or footnote not exceeding 40<br />

characters (counting words and spaces) located<br />

and i<strong>de</strong>ntified at the foot of the first page<br />

o Authors<br />

All those inclu<strong>de</strong>d as authors must be able to<br />

prove their authorship<br />

To this end, an author is anyone who ma<strong>de</strong> a<br />

substantial contribution to:<br />

· The conception and <strong>de</strong>sign or the<br />

analysis and interpretation of the data;<br />

· The wording of the article or a critical<br />

review of its intellectual content<br />

· The final approval of the text to be sent<br />

The signing authors should meet<br />

these three conditions. Simple participation in<br />

fundraising or data gathering, as well as general<br />

supervision of the research group, does not merit<br />

authorship.<br />

The journal editor may request the<br />

authors to explain their authorship.<br />

The author must indicate in the<br />

I<strong>de</strong>ntification page the journal section where the<br />

article is to be published.<br />

o Commercial interest and assignment<br />

of rights<br />

Authors must <strong>de</strong>clare any specific<br />

commercial interest in the product, equipment<br />

of process discussed in the article or in any<br />

product, equipment or process of competitors.<br />
