Procedure Followed with Articles
General Conditions. Reception of articles
All articles received are given to the Editor, who
will acknowledge receipt thereof and decide
whether to publish them or not after an initial
evaluation comprising a) the appropriateness of
the subject and the interest of the article for the
Journal, and b) compliance of formal submission
requirements as per the publication rules. If
the article does not meet said guidelines, it is
returned to the author for adaptation within a
maximum period of one month.
Peer Review System
After verifying that the article fulfils the formal
requirements, it shall be sent for evaluation
by two or more expert reviewers (external or
members of the Scientific Committee), preserving
confidentiality and anonymity (double blind).
Said reviewers shall decide on the publication of
the article within the term of one month.
In the event of contrary evaluations
by the two reviewers, the article shall be given
to a third expert reviewer who will take the final
decision.
Original articles, short notes and reviews
shall be subject to external paired review.
Reviewed submissions which are
eligible for publication with some changes must
be returned within one month, regardless of
whether minor or major changes are requested.
The author/s shall receive the reviewers’
anonymous evaluation reports so that they can
introduce (when applicable) the appropriate
corrections.
Should it be necessary to introduce
changes in the form or subject matter prior to
acceptance, the author will be contacted with a
suggestion to do so. If deemed appropriate, the
author may be requested to confirm the date,
to which end authors are advised to keep the
statistical documents, identification of clinical
cases, etc., up to publication. The Editor reserves
the right to make contact with the Research
Committee of the institution where the work was
carried out to request details thereof.

Article printing process
After successful completion of the evaluation
process, the main author will be notified of the
acceptance or not of the article for publication
in Archivos. Accepted articles will go to print.
The test printouts shall be sent to the author for
correcting mistakes and must be returned, with
the appropriate corrections, within ten days from
the remittance date. If no corrections are received
within this term, the article will be published as
delivered by the printer, in which case neither
the printer nor the Spanish Ophthalmologic
Society will be liable for any mistakes which may
reach publication. No changes to the original
manuscript will be allowed in the proof reading.
Reviewer selection criteria
The reviewers are selected through the Journal
editors taking into account their academic and
scientific merits as well as professional experience
in each ophthalmologic subspecialty, including
national and international researchers.
Editorial Policy criteria
The guidelines of the Journal’s editorial staff
for accepting or declining submissions are: a)
originality: the work must be completely original,
providing valuable information and repetition of
known results; b) current validity and novelty;
c)relevance: applicability of results for resolving
specific problems; d) significance: progress
of scientific knowledge; e) scientific reliability
and validity: proven methodological quality;
f)presentation: good wording and organisation
(logical consistency and presentation).
Authorisation for reprinting published material
The content of this Journal may be reproduced, in
full or in part, provided that the source is quoted
and prior written authorisation is requested from
the Editor’s office.
Ethical principles for Research and Publication
The Journal management informs that it is the
obligation of the editorial staff of Archivos to
identify and report the following dishonest
practices related to scientific fraud: a) fabrication,
