General Conditions for publishing in Archivos <strong>de</strong> <strong>Oftalmología</strong> <strong>de</strong> Buenos Aires<br />

page (following the format of Original Articles).<br />

A 100 word summary of the main message,<br />

with the following <strong>de</strong>velopment: Objective/<br />

method, Results/Conclusions (or Clinical Case,<br />

Discussion), first in English and then in Spanish,<br />

both followed by the appropriate key words (see<br />

instructions thereof in 3.8). Text, not exceeding<br />

800 words, divi<strong>de</strong>d in the following sections: a)<br />

Introduction, b) Clinical case/s, c) Discussion,<br />

or a)Introduction, b) Surgical technique, c)<br />

Discussion. Section a) Introduction is optional in<br />

both cases. Five relevant bibliographical quotes<br />

on separate page, and Figures (maximum 6<br />

graphic reproduction units), avoiding tables or<br />

reproductions thereof.<br />

Bibliographical quotes as well as figures<br />

must comply with the indications set out in the<br />

«Original Articles» section.<br />

• Iconographic section<br />

Historical iconographic article with a<br />

footnote not exceeding 300 words.<br />

Advertisements of the Nineteenth Century<br />

and early Twentieth century may be inclu<strong>de</strong>d<br />

here.<br />

• Event announcements<br />

This section is for publishing<br />

announcements for Congresses, symposiums,<br />

courses, meetings, conferences and other<br />

ophthalmologic events, submitted at least six<br />

months in advance. Also, this section accepts<br />

announcements for employment and specialised<br />

training activities.<br />

The announcement must be as short<br />

as possible, and the Journal reserves the right to<br />

summarise it as <strong>de</strong>emed necessary.<br />

The request for publication of the<br />

announcement must be ma<strong>de</strong> by the event<br />

organiser, who will be responsible for the content<br />

thereof.<br />

• Comments on books, audiovisuals and<br />

ophthalmology related websites<br />

Archivos agrees to comment on<br />

received ophthalmology books. Authors who<br />

wish to see their books mentioned in the Journal<br />

are kindly requested to <strong>de</strong>liver an original issue<br />

to the Editor of Archivos, who will submit the<br />

work to an appraiser who will provi<strong>de</strong> an analysis<br />

and comment, which will be published.<br />

Archivos agrees to comment on<br />

ophthalmology related websites belonging to<br />

institutions, organisations, associations, scientific<br />

societies, universities, journals, etc. upon their<br />

reception. At the same time, comments received<br />

for our section: «Comments on books and<br />

audiovisuals», will be structured as follows:<br />

1) Website i<strong>de</strong>ntification: Website name<br />

or title, author or editor, Universal Resource<br />

Locator (URL), city and country of origin and<br />

date of last update.<br />

4) Other information: relevant contents or<br />

features of website, i.e. access, whether free,<br />

restricted or paid, languages, number of sections<br />

in home page and links to other websites.<br />

3) Comments: Text of any choice up to<br />

00 words. As a gui<strong>de</strong>line please consi<strong>de</strong>r;<br />

a) contents, structure of home page, subject<br />

matter and <strong>de</strong>scription, volume, quality and<br />

current validity, writing style, focus and goals,<br />

links (other websites, publications, search<br />

engines, email), access to chat sites or online<br />

forums; b) graphics, navigation menus, images,<br />

sounds, vi<strong>de</strong>os, animations and their quality,<br />

advertisements, announcements or events; c)<br />

user friendly navigation, usability: interactivity<br />

with user, clear and simple menus, navigation<br />

symbols, downloading speed, accessibility for<br />

the disabled (motor, learning, visual, audio),<br />

target users (ophthalmologists, resi<strong>de</strong>nts, other<br />

specialists, members of our organisation, patients<br />

or general public)<br />

4) Author of comment and city.<br />

• Personal news<br />

These consist in the publication of<br />

changes in administration circles, aca<strong>de</strong>mic<br />

changes, honours, etc. related to ophthalmology.<br />

Items for this section must be sent by the<br />

person involved or with his/her acceptance, to<br />

the Editor of Archivos, who shall consi<strong>de</strong>r the<br />

publication thereof.
