Enero - Diciembre 2012 En la Ceremonia de Inauguración del Hospital General de México, el Dr. Eduardo Liceaga dijo: “Señores no vais a recibir un edificio nuevo, sino una institución; tendréis el deber no sólo de conservarla, sino de perfeccionarla; ella os proporcionará la ocasión de hacer el bien a vuestros semejantes, no sólo con el auxilio de vuestra ciencia, sino con la dulzura de vuestras maneras, la compasión por el sufrimiento y las palabras de consuelo para su espíritu”. En este sentido el 19 de julio de 2012, la Secretaría de Salud asignó oficialmente a nuestro Hospital General de México el nombre de su fundador, “Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”. Hoy, a más de un siglo de distancia, estamos trabajando para cumplir con la misión encomendada por el fundador de esta gran Institución, para ello se continua modificando la infraestructura física del Hospital con el proyecto de verticalización del Hospital General de México, con lo que será posible aumentar la capacidad de atención y la calidad de los servicios en los próximos años. Al mismo tiempo hemos estado en un proceso de renovación constante para darle un mejor aspecto al Hospital, con la remodelación de algunas áreas, que junto con las nuevas edificaciones, permitirán a los trabajadores contar con áreas más dignas, confortables y debidamente equipadas para la atención de los pacientes. Conformar una Institución moderna, innovadora, dinámica, efectiva y fuerte, que pueda proyectarse hacia la comunidad y se mantenga a la vanguardia en el cuidado de la vida, a través de la Asistencia, pero también de la Educación y la Investigación, manteniéndose como un referente obligado en el desarrollo de la medicina mexicana El compromiso con la Institución es lo más valioso que tenemos, porque si bien la infraestructura física juega un papel importante en la Atención Médica, la Educación y la Investigación, sin la dedicación del personal, no podríamos ofrecer servicios de calidad y con calidez humana; que al final del día, son lo que dan prestigio al Hospital General de México, conformando una Institución efectiva y fuerte que pueda proyectar su quehacer hacia la comunidad y mantenerse a la vanguardia. Nuestra Institución se sometió a una evaluación con miras a lograr la recertificación por parte del Consejo de Salubridad General; las observaciones que hicieron los auditores nos servirán para realizar ajustes y mejorar, porque pretendemos ser la mejor Institución del sector salud de este país en Atención Médica, Educación e Investigación. No hay duda que nuestra Institución es de mentes inquietas, innovadoras y maduras, capaces de responder a las necesidades de la población que llega buscando recuperar su salud. Hoy, el HGM es un Hospital certificado, con un voluntariado fuerte, que justo acaba de cumplir 50 años sirviendo y brindando un apoyo cálido y decidido a aquellos que más lo 14
