IntroducciónREAL ACADEMIA DE LA HISTORIAnos, se han incluido aquí, ya que están c<strong>la</strong>ramente diferenciadas <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s posterioresemisiones romanas imperiales <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> zona.Las <strong>monedas</strong> hebreas p<strong>la</strong>ntean un problema simi<strong>la</strong>r, pues en su mayoría sonanteriores a <strong>la</strong> dominación romana, por lo que, para no separar un grupo reducido<strong>de</strong> estas piezas y atendiendo a que todas llegaron en una misma remesa a <strong>la</strong> <strong>Real</strong><strong>Aca<strong>de</strong>mia</strong> <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> <strong>Historia</strong>, hemos preferido incluir<strong>la</strong>s todas juntas y no <strong>de</strong>jar quealgunas se publicaran por separado en otro catálogo. Lo que sí hemos hecho esseparar, a <strong>la</strong> hora <strong>de</strong> catalogar<strong>la</strong>s, <strong>la</strong>s que son emitidas por el estado soberano hebreoy <strong>la</strong>s que se acuñaron bajo <strong>la</strong>s directrices romanas. Entre estas piezas hebreas,encontramos un conjunto <strong>de</strong> 96 piezas que estaban i<strong>de</strong>ntificadas como “<strong>monedas</strong>judías”, pero que hoy no po<strong>de</strong>mos c<strong>la</strong>sificar<strong>la</strong>s <strong>de</strong>bido a su mal estado <strong>de</strong> conservación,por lo que <strong>la</strong>s hemos <strong>de</strong>jado al final <strong>de</strong>l capítulo <strong>de</strong> moneda <strong>de</strong> Ju<strong>de</strong>a como piezasfrustras.Las <strong>monedas</strong> púnicas también se han recogido en este catálogo por idénticasrazones. Colocadas al final <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> obra, tal y como se incluyen en los catálogos <strong>de</strong>moneda griega, aparecen divididas por zonas (Cer<strong>de</strong>ña, Zeugitania y Sicilia) y, <strong>de</strong>ntro<strong>de</strong> el<strong>la</strong>s, se or<strong>de</strong>nan cronológicamente y por tipos. Estas <strong>monedas</strong> se suelen incluir<strong>de</strong>ntro <strong>de</strong> los estudios <strong>de</strong> moneda griega por <strong>la</strong>s similitu<strong>de</strong>s que existen entre ambas,tanto en métrica como en estilo.Con <strong>la</strong> terminología <strong>de</strong> dioses, cerámicas, etc., hemos preferido mantener <strong>la</strong>s<strong>de</strong>nominaciones originales en griego o <strong>la</strong>tín para mantener un mismo criterio <strong>de</strong>nomenc<strong>la</strong>tura; por ejemplo, para <strong>la</strong> pa<strong>la</strong>bra kylix, para <strong>la</strong> que no hay pa<strong>la</strong>bra en castel<strong>la</strong>na;por ello, no hemos traducido términos como ánfora y hemos <strong>de</strong>jado el <strong>de</strong>amphorae, superando así situaciones en <strong>la</strong>s que los términos no tienen homólogo encastel<strong>la</strong>no.En España existe poca tradición en el estudio <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> moneda griega, salvo enre<strong>la</strong>ción con <strong>la</strong>s cecas peninsu<strong>la</strong>res <strong>de</strong> Emporiton y Rho<strong>de</strong>, que han merecido profundosestudios <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong>s emisiones helenas. Hasta <strong>la</strong> fecha, localizamos trabajos publicadosen actas <strong>de</strong> congresos, como los <strong>de</strong>sarrol<strong>la</strong>dos por <strong>la</strong> Dra. Alicia Arévalo en el XCongreso Nacional <strong>de</strong> Numismática, en 1998 4 o por el Dr. Adolfo Domínguez Mone<strong>de</strong>roen el Congreso Internacional <strong>de</strong> Numismática celebrado en Madrid en 2003 5 y artículosin<strong>de</strong>pendientes que <strong>de</strong>scubren <strong>la</strong> triste ausencia <strong>de</strong> publicaciones más extensas yespecializadas.
