La Aquiescencia en los arbitrajes de la Corte Internacional de Justiciade RREE de Nicaragua a su homólogo hondureño en la que por primera vez seevoca la invalidez de la sentencia 48 .La Corte declaró:Nicaragua’s failure to raise any question with regard to the validity of theAward for several years after the full terms of the Award had become knownto it further confirms the conclusion at which the Court has arrived. Theattitude of the Nicaraguan authorities during that period was in conformitywith Article VI1 of the Gamez-Bonilla Treaty which provided that the arbitraldecision whatever it might be-and this, in the view of theCourt, includesthe decision of the King of Spain as arbitrator “shall be held as a perfect,binding and perpetual Treaty between the High Contracting Parties, andshall not be subject to appeal” 49 .El caso del Golfo de Maine no presenta tampoco mayores dificultades encuanto a la determinación de la fecha de inicio del periodo a tener en cuenta.Este empieza mediante comunicaciones oficiales entabladas en 1966 entre elDepartamento de Asuntos Exteriores del Canadá y la Embajada americana enese país 50 y concluye en 1968 cuando el Estado americano sugiere, por mediode canales diplomáticos, abrir conversaciones al respecto.
