mountains are decidedly lacking in the flatlands of northern Germany.
That’s why Hamburg should now feel slightly closer to the alps – with an
honest-to-goodness alpine meadow on an island in the middle of Hamburg
harbour! The aim of the project by copenhagen architects BiG is to create a
place of magical beauty and a piece of alpine atmosphere – the most realistic
alpine meadow possible, with trees and a small stream as well as a carpet
of soft, green, flower-drenched grass. However, the alpine meadow is
also intended as a place of communication: electrical connections and
WlaN internet access are hidden in the grass so that people can take their
work, laptop or a reading lamp with them into the greenery. The 300 m² room
beneath the alpine meadow, whose character is determined by the statics of
the supporting structure, permits a wide range of uses. as a place protected
from the weather, the room offers space for dining, cinema, presentations,
exhibitions, parties, etc.: a flexible event space that is as extraordinary as it
is surprising. in collaboration with the Berlin artists of Realities United, the
alpine meadow is to be given a lighting system designed to bathe the underworld
of the meadow in spectacular, artificial lighting moods, while the
three-dimensional interior lattice of the supporting framework casts mysterious
silhouettes. at night, it should be clear from the banks of the river that
something very special is afoot here in Hamburg’s first alpine landscape!
EsP en las llanuras del norte de alemania las montañas son de una escasez
pronunciada. por esta razón Hamburgo ha querido acercarse un
poco más a los alpes con una auténtica pradera alpina, semejante a una
isla en medio de la zona portuaria de la ciudad. el objetivo que quiere
cumplir con este proyecto el gabinete de arquitectura BiG, con sede en
copenhague, es conseguir un lugar de una belleza mágica y, junto con
él, una parte del ambiente alpino; la pradera alpina más genuina, que
cuenta con flores y un pequeño arroyo, así como una alfombra de verde
hierba, suave y llena de florecillas. Sin embargo, este prado alpino ha
de ser también un lugar de comunicaciones: escondidos entre la hierba
se dejan entrever puertos de conexión y accesos a internet WlaN, y
así el trabajo, el portátil o incluso la lámpara de lectura se puedan llevar
hasta este espacio verde. la superficie de 300 m² que queda bajo la
pradera alpina, cuyo carácter se define a través de la naturaleza estática
de la estructuralidad, también ofrece un amplio abanico de posibles
aplicaciones y usos. este espacio se ofrece como un lugar atemporal
para las conferencias, la gastronomía, el cine, las fiestas, etc.: un espacio
dedicado a los eventos, excepcional y sorprendentemente flexible
a partes iguales. Gracias a la colaboración con los artistas berlineses
de Realities United, esta pradera alpina contará con un sistema de iluminación
que se sumergirá en su submundo para crear un ambiente
luminoso espectacular y artístico, mientras la estructura en celosía
tridimensional del armazón portante proyectará enigmáticas sombras.
así, al caer la noche, se ha de ver con claridad desde la orilla: aquí, en
el primer paisaje alpino de Hamburgo, ocurre algo más, algo especial.
