I.F is involved with capacity building in the area of production,
processing and marketing in Momo. According to them the marketing
of yams present no constraints because production is still very low.
SAILD/NOWEFOR has accompanied the farmer of Nseh Union
of Farming Groups and Mbiyeh Union of farming groups in Bui and
Donga/ Mantung in the grouped marketing of Solanum potatoes. They
negotiated and linked the unions with wholesalers from Douala in
2004 who bought the potatoes on the spot but price negotiation was
between the farmers and the buyers. Assisted farmers to negotiate
prices 10000frs/tons which were higher than those prevailing in the
market. SAILD provides capacity building in marketing for the
unions.
SNV has been carrying out institutional organisation of BIPFU
(BUI Irish Potatoes Farmers Union) which is being promoted by the
council. This council in collaboration with a partner in USA have
formulated a project for processing of potatoes into potatoes chips
for export. This project goes operational in 2007.
They are also collaborating with Mbengwi rural council to carry
out a market study for cassava products produced in this council
area.
Chamber of Commerce is not yet doing anything in particular in
the area of marketing of roots and tubers.
The phytosanitory base of MINADER has issued certificates to
persons sending out small quantities of garri, cassava fufu and
