market include truck pushers, loaders, transporters, retailers, semi-
wholesalers and wholesalers . 90% of the actors of this market are
the buyam/sellams who receive products from the wholesalers and
sell before paying for the produce except for garri where most of
the retailers also go to the village markets to buy their garri.
Imported to Exported from the Market
All the roots and tubers as well as their processed products
are sold in these markets. In order of importance are 1st Solanum
potatoes, 2 nd garri, 3 rd Macabo/taro, 4 th waterfufu, 5 th yams and 6 th
sweet potatoes.
Cassava: Fresh Cassava is rare.
Waterfufu: comes from Mbengwi, Mankon and Bafut. No organised
structured groups but marketing is structured. From all villages, the
sellers are divided into a Wednesday group about 40 women and
Saturday about 100 women. The groups from Mbengwi have their
specific transporters who bring them to and from the market. The
origin of waterfufu can be differentiated by their packaging. All
