SALVATORE FERRAGAMO,
THE SIGNATURE COLLECTION
The new project focusing on the world of Ferragamo eyewear and timepieces
Salvatore Ferragamo presents The Signature Collection, a new
special project focusing on the world of Eyewear and Timepieces
inspired by the Gancio, the Maison’s iconic ring-like symbol. An
exclusive capsule of sunglasses and watches that constitute a revisiting
of key strands in Ferragamo’s DNA.
Rich of heritage and contemporary content, The Signature Collection
builds on the main stylistic traits of Salvatore Ferragamo’s
work: the use of colour (with a palette combining vibrant with
more traditional tones), a sophisticated mix of materials drawing
on continuous experimentation, and glamour, a key element in the
strong and uninterrupted relationship between the brand and the
world of cinema and Hollywood stardom.
Care over detail becomes a hallmark and culminates in a new and
modern interpretation of the Gancio form. In the Eyewear line, the
Gancio shaped ornament wraps around the oversize frame to end
up on the back, while in the Timepieces collection it appears on
the lugs on the sides of the case and climaxes on the case back. In
all the versions – stainless steel, IP gold or two-tone - the watches
measure 38 mm in diameter and mount a strictly Swiss Made
quartz movement.
Inspired by the theme of colour - so central to Salvatore Ferragamo
creations - the Timepieces offering plays on vibrant hues like
the fuchsia, grey or orange of the elaphe skin straps and combines
them with deliciously nuanced guilloché sunray dials. Likewise,
the Signature sunglasses express this mood through a sumptuous
palette of graded tones: black-grey, turquoise, airforce blue,
orange, burgundy and brown.
Salvatore Ferragamo’s eclectic juxtaposition of materials, the fruit
of symbiosis between creative experimentation and sheer craftsmanship,
is seen in the original use of karung, a highly prized skin,
in two of the sunglass versions: black with chocolate temples and
havana with black temples. Similarly, the watch with diamond
studded lugs has the eccentricity of a dégradé blue, nude or beige
karung strap.
