“OPEN SPACE” –
DORNBRACHT AT
THE ISH 2009
The principle of “Open
Space” originates from the
art market and its fairs and
exhibitions. The idea: all the
exhibits are freely displayed
on a platform that can be accessed
from all sides. It was
along the lines of this principle
that Dornbracht presented
itself at the ISH 2009 in
Frankfurt – and showed itself
as being consciously open,
transparent and in every regard
accessible. In addition,
“Open Space” took up the lifestyle
character of the trade fair
novelty SUPERNOVA. Thus
the SUPERNOVA Lead Bathroom
formed the central area
of the stand. The Lead Bathroom
was conceived as a solitary
unit which draws together
all the functions and zones of
the bathroom and thus emphasizes
the high sculptural quality
of the fitting. Surrounding
modules displayed the various
style worlds of SUPer-
NOVA and the series worlds
of TARA, ELEMENTAL SPA
and SYMETRICS. The “the
Spirit of Water” cube formed
the conceptual and optical
counterbalance to the open
stand area. Inside the cube, the
fascination with water emanating
from the products is
staged, in keeping with the
brand’s promise of “the Spirit
of Water”.

Il principio “Open Space” risale
al mercato di opere d’arte,
alle sue fiere e alle sue
esposizioni. L’idea: tutti i pezzi
esposti sono visibili liberamente
su una piattaforma
accessibile da tutti i lati.
Dorn bracht si è presentata alla
ISH 2009 di Francoforte sulla
scorta di questo principio e
così si è dimostrata volutamente
aperta, trasparente e
accessibile sotto ogni aspetto.

L’”Open Space” poi ha catturato
il carattere lifestyle di SU-
PERNOVA, la novità della
fiera. E quindi anche il bagno
concettuale SUPERNOVA è
diventato il fulcro dello stand.
Il bagno concettuale è stato
concepito come un solitario che
posiziona in sé tutte le funzioni

e le zone del bagno, accentuando
così l’elevata qualità scultorea
della rubinetteria. I moduli
che affiancavano il punto centrale
mostravano le diverse rappresentazioni
stilistiche di SU-
PERNOVA e i vari mondi delle
serie TARA, ELEMENTAL
SPA e SYMETRICS. Il contrappeso
concettuale e ottico
alla superficie aperta dello
stand era rappresentato dal
cubo “the Spirit of Water”,
all’interno del quale si mette in
scena il fascino per l’acqua
che scaturisce dai prodotti, nel
significato promesso del marchio
“the Spirit of Water”.

proviene del mercado del
arte, de sus ferias y exposiciones.
¿La idea? Todos los
objetos expuestos se presentan
libres sobre una plataforma
a la que se puede acceder
desde todos los lados.
Siguiendo este principio se
presentó Dornbracht en la feria
ISH 2009 de Frankfurt,
mostrándose conscientemente
abierto, transparente y accesible
en todos los aspectos.
El “Open Space” retoma además
el carácter lifestyle de la
novedad de la feria SUPER-
NOVA. Por ejemplo, el baño
conceptual SUPERNOVA
ocupó también el centro del
stand. El baño conceptual se
ha diseñado como un solitario
que agrupa todas las funciones
y las zonas del cuarto
de baño, resaltando así la elevada
calidad estructural de la
grifería. Los módulos que
flanqueaban el centro mostraban
los diferentes estilos
de SUPERNOVA, y los estilos
de las series TARA, ELE-
MENTAL SPA y SYME-
TRICS. El contrapeso conceptual
y visual de la
superficie abierta lo formaba
el cubo “the Spirit of Water”.
En el interior del cubo se representa
la fascinación por el
agua que emana de los productos,
tal como promete la
marca “the Spirit of Water”.

AT THE PASSA-
GEN 2010 SHOW
Passagen, now the largest
German design event, according
to the organizer,
provides an exhibition programme
on topical trends in
design. 190 individual shows
took place at the Passagen
2010 in Cologne’s galleries,
furniture stores, cultural institutes,
museums and higher
education institutions. One of
the highlights was certainly
the “Revolving Realities”
project initiated by Mike
Meiré as part of the “Dornbracht
Edges” series. The reactive
installation by the
group Interpalazzo (sound:
Marcus Schmickler) plays
with our perception of reality,
as we repeatedly perceive a
place and an object afresh:
contours shift, surfaces become
the mirror of changing
realities. Real virtuality instead
of virtual reality. The
projects realized for the
“Dornbracht Edges” series
constantly pivot about the interface
between architecture,
design and art. International
designers and architects invent
visions and utopias for
the changing living areas of
the bathroom and the kitchen.
“Revolving Realities” is
the latest project in the series,
following “Global Street
Food” (2009), “Noises for
Ritual Architecture” (2008)
and “The Farm Project”
(2007).

I “Passagen”, stando alle indicazioni
degli organizzatori
divenuta nel frattempo la
principale manifestazione di
design di Germania, offrono
un programma espositivo sulle
tendenze attuali nel settore.
I “Passagen 2010” hanno
ospitato 190 mostre di gallerie,
negozi di arredamento,
istituti culturali, musei e istituti
superiori di Colonia. Uno
dei momenti culminanti è
stato senz’altro il progetto
“Revolving Realities” promosso
da Mike Meiré
nell’ambito della serie
“Dorn bracht Edges”. L’installazione
reattiva del gruppo
Interpalazzo (sound da
Marcus Schmickler) gioca
con la nostra percezione della
realtà, portandoci ad avvertire
un luogo e un oggetto in
modo sempre nuovo: i contorni
si spostano, le superfici
diventano specchio di realtà
mutevoli. Virtualità reale anziché
realtà virtuale. I progetti
realizzati per la serie
“Dorn bracht Edges” si muovono
sempre su un’interfaccia
di architettura, design e
arte. I designer e gli architetti
internazionali escogitano visioni

diseño más importante de
Alemania, forman un programa
de exposiciones sobre

Uno de los puntos principales

proyecto “Revolving Realities”,

nuestra percepción de la realidad,

en espejos de realidades cambiantes.

TRANSFORMING
WATER
The bathroom of tomorrow –
today: AMBIANCE TUN­
ING TECHNIQUE changes
the way of showering – and
thereby changes the interlude
in the bathroom. New
technology creates the conditions
for further enhancing
and intensifying the experience
of water. The new and
unique water experience is
made possible thanks to innovative
electronic control. The
result: a complete atmospheric
change to the “bathroom”
surroundings. A holistic experience,
which opens up new
options: three scenarios,
which – when programmed
accordingly – each respond to
a particular emotional state or
physical constitution. DE-
STRESSING relaxes, calms,
closes down the organism, really
flicks down the personal
“OFF switch”. ENERGIZ-
ING, on the other hand, reenergizes,
recharges, provides
strength. All the senses are
animated, stimulated, the individual
is “started up”. And
then BALANCING creates
equilibrium, the balance. The
harmonization of all the senses.
The AMBIANCE tuninG
TECHNIQUE is thus the logical
sequel to what we began in
2005 with the launch of the
RAIN SKY E scenarios.
