LA FIGURA
Lo studio della figura umana mi ha sempre interessato
come esercizio del disegno utile al mio lavoro creativo.
Non sono però mai stato particolarmente attratto da
questo tema così importante, considerato spesso dai
miei colleghi pittori come una tappa obbligata; non
sentivo per tale studio quell’attrazione fatale come per
il paesaggio e per tutta la natura che lo animava: gli alberi,
l’acqua, e l’aria furono sempre il tema stimolante
per la mia brama di sapere.
Serbo però indimenticabile il ricordo delle serate trascorse
all’Accademia Carrara di Bergamo quando frequentavo
i corsi di disegno del nudo, con l’assistenza
del professor Giacomo Marra. Ogni tanto il pittore
Trento Longaretti, allora direttore della stessa Accademia,
passava a curiosare dando consigli ai partecipanti.
Io non potevo partecipare assiduamente a causa della
falegnameria che, in alcuni periodi, mi occupava totalmente.
Tale esperienza accademica servì comunque
moltissimo per il mio futuro artistico.
THE FIGURE
The study of the human figure has always interested
me, as a useful drawing-exercise. I’ve never
been particularly attracted to this important theme
though, even if my colleagues often consider it as
an inevitable step. It didn’t make me feel the same
emotion that the landscape and all the nature
around it provoked in me: trees, water and air have
always been the most shaking theme for my will of
knowledge.
I still remember the unforgettable evenings I had spent
at the Accademia Carrara of Bergamo, attending
nude drawing classes with the assistance of Professor
Giacomo Marra. Every now and then, Professor Trento
Longaretti, who was Head of the Academy, peeked
in to give the students advice.
I couldn’t attend every lesson because my carpentry studio,
at the time, was keeping me busy. However, this
academic experience has proved to be useful for my
artistic future.
