DISEGNI A MATITA
Nel 1982 mi venne una voglia improvvisa di disegnare:
presi una matita, qualche foglio di carta e mi misi
all’opera. Dovevo trovare un mio modo per esprimere
quel momento particolare, in cui sentivo la necessità di
operare con quella tecnica grafica. Provai a costruire il
soggetto mettendo trattini a matita uno vicino all’altro,
e rendendo in quel modo il chiaroscuro; una tecnica
che poteva servire anche per l’incisione all’acquaforte
che in quel momento stavo sperimentando. Quell’esperienza
durò circa sei mesi, tutti trascorsi lavorando
sodo, a tempo pieno, e ispirandomi ai temi correnti cui
mi ero già dedicato in pittura: l’acqua, la sopravvivenza
degli alberi, la natura. Ormai avevo individuato un
mio stile. Ma il mio spirito, allora più inquieto che
mai, venne attratto da altri interessi, da altre sperimentazioni.
Troncai così quella che mi sembrava, all’inizio,
un’esperienza destinata a durare nel tempo.
Anche quella del disegno fu un’esperienza che aggiunse
un altro anello alla catena del mio sapere tecnico e artistico,
e che mi servì nelle successive tappe espressive.
PENCIL-DRAWINGS
In 1982 I had a sudden desire of drawing: I took a
pencil, a few sheets of paper and I started working.
I had to find my own way of expressing that particular
moment in which I was feeling the necessity
of drawing. I tried to build my subject by drawing
little pencil-dashes close to each other, creating
light and dark parts. This technique was also useful
for the engravings and etchings I was experimenting
at the time. That experience lasted more or less
six months, working hard all day and taking inspiration
from the themes I had already chosen to
paint: water, the survival of the trees and nature. I
had found my own style. But then my restless spirit
found other interests and trials. So, I decided to
quit what – at first – seemed to be a long-lasting
experience.
Drawing was another experience that added
a ring to the chain of my technical and artistic
knowledge, and it was also useful for my following
expressive trials.
