Social Report 2005
In June 2005 we promoted a public carpet sector event at our
production site in Podborany, Czech Republic. On that occasion
we installed an artwork called “A Journey”, an orange DNA
helix, with proteins made up of coloured bobbins of nylon yarn.
The artwork, made of metal and wood laminate, was designed
by Exposure Architects and illustrates how the quality of raw
materials, as in DNA, remains the same in the fi nished product,
despite the fact that they pass from generation to generation,
or from one process to another. The colour orange is a blend of
red, the colour of our fi bres business area, and yellow, the colour
of our textiles business area. The DNA spiral is the symbol
For over thirty years we have invested in sport, especially skiing.
We founded the RadiciGroup Ski Club and take part in
national and international sports competitions. Our philosophy
is that a sport should be experienced intensely, observing
the rules of the game. Based on this credo, we organized two
courses, “Future Champions” and “New Recruits”. The former
is for children from 5 to 7 years old who want to learn to ski.
The course consists of 10 lessons at Mount Pora ski resort,
In 2006 we plan to participate in the Comenius project at two
secondary schools in the province of Bergamo, Italy. The undertaking
is called “Living together in a sustainable environment”
and will involve not only the students in our communities, but
also the University of Bergamo, local businesses, the Province
of Bergamo, the Municipalities of Leffe and Curno, Italy, the
Association of Mountain Municipalities of the Mid Seriana Valley,
Legambiente (Italian Environmental League) and ERSAF
(Regional Agricultural and Forest Services Agency). Also par-
of life but also of continuity in time. The installation is an integral
part of our factory in the Czech Republic and highlights
our attention to the workplace. It is a kind of dialogue among
the artists and the workers. We think a factory is a living place,
not a mere container for people, machines and silent works
of art. An artwork, in fact, has great social value. It does not
necessarily promote the company’s brand, but it highlights the
places and people and the social role of the company itself.
In our opinion, an artwork situated in a company is part of
the place where we live, work and think, and it stimulates our
curiosity.
with transport from Bergamo, Italy. “New Recruits” is a precompetition
course for children between the ages of 5 and 8
who know how to ski and would eventually like to reach the
competitive level. Our ski club consists of two athletic trainers,
ten ski instructors for young people and one for athletes who
are no longer youths but are enamoured of sport. Training is
held in the Bergamasque Alps on reserved slopes and there are
competitions on Sundays and holidays.
ticipating in the project are schools in Poland, England, Spain,
Portugal and Finland. We joined the project with enthusiasm,
because we think the development of a strong awareness of
environmental conditions in our communities and a more
sustainable lifestyle has to begin with our young children at
school. Our commitment is to supply all the support needed by
the initiative during its three-year life, initiate a round table
discussion with all the local players and share our experiences
concerning the issues in question.
