Since its creation in 1999, the Paraiba State Forum of Adult and Youth Education has grown
considerably in size as well as seeking to develop actions of quality for Adult and Youth
Education in the face of those social-economic challenges posed by the present context. This
study seeks to evaluate the first five years of existence of the Forum considering aspects
detected by the interviewees. The research is of a qualitative nature. The data was collected
using a structured questionnaire with a sample of 25 representatives distributed among the
federal, state, municipal, NGO and “S” System segments. On the basis of these interviews
categories were selected which made the technique of the evaluative study possible. The
research revealed that in these five years of meetings, the Forum continues bringing important
contributions to Adult and Youth Education such as: reports and exchanges of experience,
information, pedagogical suggestions, etc. However, according to some interviewees, the
forum still leaves a great deal to be desired, since although actions are detected written
documents should exist which would serve to pressure governmental and non-governmental
instances in favour of the demand for quality in all the dimensions of Adult and Youth
Education.
