UFP and the - Universidade Fernando Pessoa

Eu compreendo que, como convém, eu tenha sido um tanto minucioso
no desempenho da minha missão. Isso é devido à orientação
que vim recebendo desde a minha escola primária. Ali, a
Professora, entre muitas outras coisas, ensinou-nos a proceder
sempre de acordo com “o bem feito” (…)
Esta Professora, para além disso, também era a minha mãe. (…)
Por outro lado o meu Pai, que cedo deixou o ensino para se dedicar
à actividade de comércio, era igualmente minucioso nas suas tarefas.
Ele possuía uma moto Rudge que, eventualmente, necessitava
de reparações. Quase todas eram executadas pelo meu Pai. Um tipo
de reparação, de que me recordo por ser frequente, era a necessidade
de aplicar novos calços no disco da embraiagem pois estes ainda
eram de cortiça. Antes de montar aquelas peças, incluindo parafusos
e fêmeas, todas tinham de ser pormenorizadamente lavadas
com gasolina e limpas com um farrapo; só assim ele fazia a respectiva
montagem e considerava que o serviço era “bem feito”. (…)
Pela vida fora e com muitas outras pessoas também fui aprendendo
alguma coisa. Professores, colegas, amigos, técnicos de qualquer
profissão, alunos, pacientes, etc, muito contribuíram para a
minha aprendizagem e formação.(…)
(…) não sei como fazer o meu agradecimento. Por isso, dirigindo-
-me à pessoa mais credenciada e com mais dignidade aqui na sala,
que evidentemente é o Magnífico Reitor da UFP, Prof. Doutor Salvato
Trigo, e englobando nele todas as pessoas que de qualquer forma
contribuíram para o meu saber, agradeço à boa moda portuguesa,
de uma forma muito simples mas muito sentida: Magnífico Reitor,
por tudo quanto tem feito por mim, creia que estou verdadeiramente
grato e por isso fico-lhe muito, mesmo muito, obrigado!

Fundação da Juventude premeia
Trabalho da UFP
No âmbito da unidade curricular “Avaliação e Intervenção Comunitária”,
inserida no Mestrado em Psicologia da Educação e Intervenção
Comunitária, constituiu-se um grupo de trabalho formado
pela docente da UFP, Mestre Cristina Pimentão e pelas alunas Dra.
Fátima Gomes e Dra. Tatiana Centeno Marta, para a participação
na segunda edição do Concurso Nacional promovido pela Fundação
da Juventude no âmbito da prevenção rodoviária.

I understood that, as is appropriate, I have been a bit meticulous in
the performance of my mission. This is due to the guidance that I
have received since my primary school. There our Teacher taught us,
among many other things, to always act in accordance with “the
good done” (…)
That Teacher, in addition, was also my mother. (…)
Moreover my father, who soon left teaching to dedicate himself to trade,
was also meticulous in his actions. He had a Rudge motorcycle that
would sometimes need to be repaired. My father would do almost all
the repairs. One type of repair, which I remember because it was so common,
was the need to apply new clutch pads since they were still made
from cork. Before assembly, these parts, including nuts and bolts, all had
to be carefully washed with petrol and cleaned with a rag; it was only
then that he would assemble it all and consider the work “well done”. (…)
Throughout my life and with many other people I have also learned
something. Teachers, colleagues, friends, specialists in any profession,
students, patients, etc have significantly contributed to my learning
and training. (…)
(…) I don’t know how to express my thanks. For this reason, addressing
the person with most prestige and highest rank here in this room,
who is clearly the Rector of UFP Prof. Salvato Trigo, and using him to
represent all those who in any way contributed to my knowledge, I
would like to extend my thank in a good old-fashioned Portuguese
way, in simple but heartfelt words:
Rector, for everything you have done for me, I believe that I am truly
grateful and for this reason thank you very, very much!

Youth Foundation awards prize to
UFP Project
In connection with the course unit “Assessment and Community
Intervention”, which is part of the Masters in Educational Psychology
and Community Intervention, a working group was set up the
UFP lecturer, Cristina Pimentão, and the students, Fátima Gomes
and Tatiana Centeno Marta, to participate in the second National
Competition organised by the Fundação da Juventude (Youth
Foundation) on the subject of road safety.
