The internal material handling in industrial units is a link of the supply<<strong>br</strong> />
chain. Although it appears in different <strong>de</strong>grees of importance, from one industry<<strong>br</strong> />
to the other, each element of the system adds extra time in the execution of the<<strong>br</strong> />
final product, thus affecting <strong>com</strong>petition and profitability of the enterprise.<<strong>br</strong> />
The use of the process of internal material handling in no longer novelty<<strong>br</strong> />
in the enterprising world. In the latest <strong>de</strong>ca<strong>de</strong>s the enterprises of <strong>de</strong>veloped<<strong>br</strong> />
countries and of Brazil seek for the materials and information flow management<<strong>br</strong> />
in the supply chain, rationalising the productive process by the a<strong>do</strong>ption of a<<strong>br</strong> />
mo<strong>de</strong>l of logistics excellence with the purpose of increasing <strong>com</strong>petition for a<<strong>br</strong> />
product.<<strong>br</strong> />
The aim of this work is to contribute to the un<strong>de</strong>rstanding of a<<strong>br</strong> />
management mo<strong>de</strong>l, which allows for the effective management of the process<<strong>br</strong> />
of inner movement of materials in industrial unit, with emphasis on the<<strong>br</strong> />
materials and information flow, in or<strong>de</strong>r to increase service to the customer,<<strong>br</strong> />
thus reducing costs to the <strong>com</strong>pany and investment in inventory, by the use of a<<strong>br</strong> />
management mo<strong>de</strong>l, ai<strong>de</strong>d by information technology as well as materials<<strong>br</strong> />
handling and warehouse.<<strong>br</strong> />
By using a theoretical approach, the mo<strong>de</strong>l of management of materials<<strong>br</strong> />
and information flow in an aeronautics industry has been analysed, thus<<strong>br</strong> />
showing its advantages and disadvantages with regard to the system of<<strong>br</strong> />
production loading, and the use of information technology, used to speed up<<strong>br</strong> />
the internal material handling, regar<strong>de</strong>d as a link of the supply chain.
