The legend of mermaids has long existed, and they
are among the most charming mythical beings in
the world. Mythological beings, half woman half fish
endowed with incredible beauty and enchanting
voice. Protectors of the seas, mermaids came into
spotlight in the 80’s with the film “Splash”; in the years
2000 with Ariel, Disney’s Little Mermaid; and in 2017,
the soap opera “A Força do Querer” had a mermaid
played by Ísis Valverde.
All this enchantment came to the charming village of
Jericoacoara after the surfer and traveler Tabatta Lua,
in one of her trips to Fernando de Noronha, had the
opportunity to take a diving course and learned about
the fantastic world of mermaids
through the Mermaid Alliance, which
is an institution of which mission is to
develop projects to protect the seas.
