BARRINHA
WHITE SAND DUNES, STRONG WIND AND CRYSTAL CLEAR LAGOONS
In this tour, the visitor will get to know the small
fishing village of Barrinha, the main fish supplier to
Jericoacoara, in a route of just over 18 km along the
beach.
At the agreed time, the guide picks you up at your
hostelry. In our case, we were led by the experienced
Magal, who gave us a brief explanation about safety,
the rules of the park, and about the route we were
about to to take. After that, we set off for Barrinha
through the famous dunes of Jericoacoara.
Our first stop is to visit and take some pictures of the
iconic Pedra Furada (Holed Stone), a symbol of the
place. After some time enjoying this natural wonder
(forty minutes on average), we get back to the trail
and, a few kilometers ahead, we stop again to visit the
curious Árvore da Preguiça (Lazy Tree), a tree famous
for its exposed roots and its top shaped by the wind.
After having a few minutes to enjoy the place and take
some pictures, we continue along the coast, and we
pass by the village of Preá, internationally famous for
its winds conditions to practice kitesurfing. After just
over 15 minutes, always along the beach, you can see
the bucolic Barrinha.
If you look further ahead, you can catch sight of nearly
a hundred small boats anchored at the beach, and
a huge amount of fish corrals (fishing traps) placed
in the sea, as far as your eyes can see, indicating the
abundance of fish there.
There are two great options to enjoy the delicacies of
the place. We had the opportunity to know KOMAKI,
a restaurant set on the top of a dune by the sea, where
the owners, Marcio Neuto and Constantino Monteiro,
welcomed us. They served us grilled lobsters with
capers and potatoes in olive oil.
However, the best was yet to come in this memorable
gastronomic experience. We were surprised by a dish
made with octopus cooked in red wine, softly grilled,
and served with potatoes dipped in olive oil and slices
of crispy garlic. A truly remarkable experience.
