Ubiegłoroczna absolwentka<br />

Borecka, została laureatką<br />
dwunastej edycji konkursu<br />
prezydenta Gliwic na najlepszą<br />
pracę licencjacką,<br />
magisterską i doktorską<br />
dotyczącą tego miasta.<br />
Praca licencjacka pt.<br />
„Atrakcyjność zamieszkania<br />
w mieście poprzemysłowym<br />
na przykładzie<br />
miasta Gliwice” napisana<br />
została pod kierunkiem<br />
prof. Adama Drobniaka<br />
z Katedry Badań Strategicznych<br />
i Regionalnych.<br />
Nasza absolwentka<br />
– i obecnie studentka<br />
studiów II stopnia – znalazła<br />
się w gronie pięciu<br />
autorów najlepszych prac<br />
wyróżnionych w konkursie.<br />
Konkurencja była<br />
duża, a tematyka prac<br />
zróżnicowana, o czym<br />
świadczy przyznanie<br />
Klaudia Plac<br />
Najlepsza<br />
praca o Gliwicach<br />
trzykrotnie pierwszego<br />
miejsca. Rywalizowały ze<br />
sobą prace zarówno licencjackie,<br />
magisterskie, jak<br />
i doktorskie.<br />
Komisja konkursowa<br />
w werdykcie podkreśliła,<br />
że praca Justyny Boreckiej<br />
wyróżnia się interesującym<br />
spojrzeniem na<br />
rozwój miasta, wartościowymi<br />
obserwacjami<br />
oraz trafnymi i cennymi<br />
uwagami na temat możliwej<br />
poprawy badanych<br />
aspektów funkcjonowania<br />
miasta Gliwice. Praca<br />
jako jedyna uwzględniała<br />
aspekty ekonomiczne<br />
rozwoju miasta, na co<br />
również zwrócono szczególną<br />
uwagę.<br />

The best thesis<br />
on Gliwice<br />
Last year’s graduate in the Spatial<br />
Economics first-cycle program,<br />
Justyna Borecka, was<br />
unveiled as a laureate of the<br />
12 th edition of the competition<br />
held by the Mayor of Gliwice for<br />
the best graduate thesis (bachelor’s<br />
or master’s) and doctoral<br />
dissertation on this city.<br />
The bachelor’s thesis titled<br />
”The attractiveness of settling<br />
in a post-industrial city – the<br />
case of Gliwice” was written<br />
under supervision of Prof. Adam<br />
Drobniak from the Department<br />
of Strategic and Regional<br />
Studies. Our alumnus, and<br />
now a student of the secondcycle<br />
program, was among<br />
five winners – authors of the<br />
theses and dissertations honored<br />
in the contest. Competition<br />
was keen as a great number<br />
of bachelor’s and master’s<br />
theses as well as doctoral<br />
dissertations, covering a variety<br />
of subjects, were submitted,<br />
and as many as three were<br />
awarded joint first place.<br />
In its verdict, the Competition<br />
Committee emphasized that<br />
the thesis written by Justyna<br />
Borecka distinguishes itself<br />
with an interesting view on the<br />
development of the city, astute<br />
observations, and perceptive<br />
and shrewd comments on the<br />
possible improvements in the<br />
functional aspects of the city it<br />
examined. It was also the only<br />
thesis/dissertation that looked<br />
at the city development from<br />
an economic angle.<br />
The laureates were presented<br />
with congratulatory letters<br />
by the deputy mayor of the<br />
city, Krystian Tomala, acting on<br />
behalf of the Mayor of Gliwice,<br />
Zygmunt Frankiewicz.
