像 是 我 真 正 敞 開 了 自 己 。 我 的 客 戶 會 知 道 他 們 是 在
和 怎 樣 的 人 打 交 道 , 明 白 我 不 會 欺 騙 他 們 或 是 讓
他 們 失 望 。」
迎 接 挑 戰 與 平 衡 風 格
室 內 設 計 是 一 項 創 造 性 的 工 作 , 既 有 趣 味 , 也
有 挑 戰 。 當 在 工 作 中 面 臨 一 些 困 境 時 ,Olena 從 法 輪
功 的 修 煉 中 也 得 到 了 許 多 啟 發 。「 修 煉 中 要 求 我 們
把 這 些 困 難 都 看 成 是 好 事 , 是 提 升 自 己 的 機 會 , 我
想 這 在 創 作 中 也 是 一 樣 。 創 造 力 就 像 水 , 困 難 就 像
是 水 流 中 碰 到 一 塊 石 頭 , 儘 管 擾 亂 了 水 流 , 卻 也 創
造 出 更 豐 富 的 視 覺 效 果 , 也 是 一 件 好 事 。」
在 Olena 的 工 作 中 , 她 經 常 面
對 的 困 難 是 如 何 平 衡 古 典 美 學 與
現 代 生 活 之 間 的 關 係 。「 我 在 學 院
主 要 學 習 的 是 古 典 藝 術 和 繪 畫 技
法 。 在 我 大 三 時 , 曾 和 媽 媽 一 起 去
意 大 利 羅 馬 旅 遊 , 當 我 看 到 那 座
古 城 中 古 老 的 建 築 和 藝 術 品 時 ,
我 對 古 典 藝 術 的 熱 愛 更 深 了 。」
Olena 甚 至 還 一 度 萌 生 出 要
在 羅 馬 學 習 藝 術 的 想 法 , 但 當 她
來 到 一 所 當 地 的 藝 術 學 校 時 , 立
即 改 變 了 主 意 。「 我 看 到 了 學 校 大 廳 裏 展 覽 的 那
些 學 生 作 品 , 它 們 全 是 現 代 風 格 , 破 碎 的 形 象 ,
不 協 調 的 構 圖 , 我 想 我 不 太 願 意 接 受 這 些 。」
儘 管 如 此 深 愛 古 典 藝 術 , 但 在 從 事 室 內 設
計 工 作 之 後 ,Olena 還 是 需 要 在 自 己 的 喜 好 和 客
戶 的 實 際 需 求 之 間 取 得 一 種 平 衡 。「 家 居 環 境 要
協 調 、 舒 適 、 功 能 齊 備 , 還 要 簡 單 、 透 氣 , 讓 人
感 覺 放 鬆 。」 至 今 為 止 ,Olena 印 象 最 深 的 客 戶
之 一 , 是 幾 年 前 她 在 懷 孕 七 個 月 時 遇 到 的 一 位 客
戶 , 這 位 女 士 請 她 設 計 她 位 於 基 輔 的 一 處 公 寓 。
「 她 感 覺 和 我 在 情 感 和 精 神 層 面 有 一 種 聯
繫 。」 正 因 為 如 此 , 這 位 客 戶 決 定 無 論 Olena 需 要
休 多 久 的 產 假 , 她 都 會 等 著 Olena 來 幫 她 設 計 她 的
家 。 最 終 ,Olena 沒 有 讓 這 位 信 任 她 的 女 士 失 望 ,
打 造 了 一 處 以 古 典 美 學 理 念 為 核 心 , 同 時 又 兼 備
現 代 簡 潔 摩 登 風 格 的 舒 適 公 寓 。 項 目 完 工 之 後 ,
這 位 女 士 非 常 滿 意 , 還 和 Olena 成 為 了 好 朋 友 。 從
那 以 後 ,Olena 一 直 為 這 位 女 士 和 女 士 的 朋 友 們 定
期 做 一 些 設 計 項 目 。
「 對 我 來 說 , 這 位 女 士 當 時 對 我 說 的 話 , 對
我 的 認 可 非 常 重 要 。 畢 竟 , 人 生 中 最 寶 貴 的 不 是
工 作 上 的 成 功 , 而 是 與 這 些 命 中 安 排 的 人 相 遇 ,
並 和 他 們 共 度 快 樂 美 好 的 時 光 。」
“I always tell clients right away about Falun Dafa; that’s like my
business card,” she says. “[When I explain] my values in life and in
work, that really opens a person up. My client then understands who
he’s dealing with. He understands that I won’t cheat him or let him
down.”
Balakina has also been able to better handle creative problem-solving
in her work. Falun Dafa has taught her to take a step back when she
encounters a problem and look at it from a broad perspective, she says.
“Creativity is like water. Meeting a stone on the way, water flows
around it, creating an even richer landscape,” she says.
Harmony and balance create a place ‘where you feel light’
A classical aesthetic has always
appealed to Balakina. The Academy
focused a lot on classical art and
techniques; students would practice
drawing busts of Greek gods to perfect
their skills, for example. Modern art
instruction was available, but not part
of the core studies.
Balakina’s love of this aesthetic was
greatly deepened when she visited Rome
with her mother during her third year
at the Academy. She was inspired to study art in Italy, but when she
visited an art school there and saw the kind of work lining its halls, she
gave up that aspiration.
“It was all contemporary, modern styles, broken figures, forms
without harmony,” she says. “I wouldn’t be able to handle it there
even a month.”
Though she got to fully indulge her classical style in designing the San
Pietro arts centre in Kyiv, she says the design for a person’s home space
should be more simple. “It has to be harmonious, cozy, and functional,
but it has to be simple and breathable, a place where you feel light.”
One of the most memorable homes she has worked on was special
because of the connection between her and its inhabitants. Balakina
was seven months pregnant when she first met the client looking to
decorate her Kyiv apartment. This woman told Balakina she would
wait for as long as Balakina needed.
“She felt that there is a connection between us on the emotional and
spiritual level,” says Balakina, which made the client determined to
have Balakina, and no other, as her designer. For years now, Balakina
has continued to do periodical work for this woman and her friends.
“For me, her words were very important,” Balakina says. “Then I
realized that it’s important to always open your heart to people. After
all, work is not the main thing in life. The main thing is that these are
the people to whom you are introduced by fate.”
