tion of Israeli threats and schemes
to annex parts of the West Bank
occupied in 1967, including East
Jerusalem, settlements and lands
in its vicinity, the Jordan Valley
and the northern Dead Sea area.
ANNHRI also rejects imposing
Israeli law on these areas, considering
that as a new crime against
the Palestinian people and a
serious violation of the rules of
International law, which affirm
that the occupying forces may
not annex lands they occupied in
any way, and that every such
action taken by those forces
unilaterally, under any considerations,
is null and has no legal
effect according to Article (43) of
the Fourth Hague Regulations of
1907. Thus, the Israeli occupation
cannot have any effects on the
Palestinians’ right to sovereignty
over their occupied territories.
The Arab Network for National
Human Rights Institutions further
The Palestinian cause is a
compass for Arab, Islamic
and international action
affirms the use of all its capabilities
at various regional and international
levels to support the
inalienable rights of the Palestinian
people and support the steps
and measures taken by the State
of Palestine to confront the
schemes of the occupying state.
ANNHRI, therefore, calls on national
human rights institutions and
their regional and international
networks to exert effective efforts
to influence the governments and
parliaments of their countries so
that the rights of the Palestinian
Arab people remain on the top of
their priorities, and not be negatively
affected by political or
normalization relations, and to
respect international decisions
and agreements on the Palestinian
cause.
The Network, in addition, calls on
the League of Arab States and the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation
to take a clear and explicit
stance that affirms the authenticity
of Palestinian rights and their
non-retrogression, and that the
Palestinian cause be the compass
of Arab, Islamic and international
action, as it is a cause of national
liberation and liberation from
occupation based on international
law, and that it must be above
any bilateral relations or relations
governed by economic, political,
or other interests.
(The statement is supported by all
member institutions of the Arab
Network, with the exception of
one reservation by the National
Institution for Human Rights in
the Kingdom of Bahrain)
