Law of 20th May 1882<br />
concerning measures to be adopted in respect to malignant contagious<br />
diseases amongst d<strong>om</strong>estic animals.<br />
§ 1.<br />
Every qualified Veterinary Surgeon, who makes use of his right to practise<br />
as such, shall immediately report to the Authorities all cases of malignant<br />
contagious disease occurring amongst those d<strong>om</strong>estic animals which may be<br />
the objects of his examination or treatment, together with in<strong>for</strong>mation as to<br />
what measures have been adopted or prescribed to counteract the disease and<br />
prevent the spread of infection. At the end of each year he shall, besides, report<br />
to that Department of the Government under which the Civil Medieal Board is<br />
placed, through the High Sheriff of the county, all the diseases Sce. amongst<br />
d<strong>om</strong>estic animals which have c<strong>om</strong>e under his observation or treatment, according<br />
to a <strong>for</strong>m more fully specified by the Department.<br />
§ 2.<br />
The diseases amongst d<strong>om</strong>estic animals which are to be subject to the<br />
special care of the Public Authorities are: anthrax, typhus and contagious footand-mouth<br />
disease amongst d<strong>om</strong>estic animals in general, and also the so<br />
called-cattle plague, and pleuro-pneumonia in cattle ; glanders and farcy (provided that<br />
it, according to the declaration of a Veterinary Surgeon, proves to be true farcy)<br />
in horses; sheep-pox, and hydrophobia. Provided any other contagious disease<br />
amongst d<strong>om</strong>estic animals bec<strong>om</strong>es of a malignant character the King may extend<br />
the provisions of this law to include it.<br />
§ 3 .<br />
When the High Sheriff deems it necessary he may cause Veterinary Surgeons<br />
to be present at horse and cattle fairs, cattle and horse shows, and other<br />
large assemblages of d<strong>om</strong>estic animals, in order to see whether any of the d<strong>om</strong>estic<br />
animals there assembled are attacked by any contagious and malignant disease,
