The H<strong>om</strong>e Department of the Royal Norwegian Government.<br />
By § 1 of the Law of the 20th May 1882 relative to d<strong>om</strong>estic animals,<br />
every qualified Veterinary Surgeon is required at the expiration of each year to<br />
send in, through the High Sheriff concerned, to that Department of the Government<br />
having charge of the Civil Veterinary Department, an account of his labours<br />
according to the annual return more fully framed by the Department.<br />
In respect to this it is determined as follows.<br />
The report, which roust be made sent in by every qualified Veterinary Surgeon<br />
enw iged in practice, be he civil or military, shall describe the conditions<br />
of the district in which he luis practised, and include the period fr<strong>om</strong> the Ist<br />
January till the 31st December during the year last past, and must be sent in to<br />
the Department, through the High Sheriff concerned, within the expiry of the<br />
month of February. Provided a VeterinarY Surgeon has, druing tile year, pracrise('<br />
in various counties, a separate report <strong>for</strong> each county in which he has<br />
practised must be sent in, as the report must be transmitted through the High<br />
Sheriff concerned.<br />
The 'report shall be acc<strong>om</strong>panied by a list of the cases of sickness which,<br />
during the year, have been observed by the Veterinary Surgeon in con<strong>for</strong>mity<br />
with the sick list transmitted herewith. Should other diseases than those<br />
entered thereon, namely contagious diseases, spread to any great extent, or be of<br />
particular interest, they shall be entered in the reserved columns.<br />
The report must contain a concise, but, so far as possible, c<strong>om</strong>plete enlightenment<br />
concerning:<br />
1_ The general conditions of health amongst the d<strong>om</strong>estic animals.<br />
'2. The diseases, contagious or otherwise, or the circumstances which to any<br />
special degree have influenced the state of health, the cause of the diseases,<br />
their extension and nature, and amongst what species of animals the particular<br />
diseases have occurred, the time and place of their appearance, and<br />
the duration of the epidemic.<br />
3. The transmission of . disease fr<strong>om</strong> animals to man or the reverse, with<br />
statement as to the nature and course of the disease. The diseases men
