Order of 15th August 1890, concerning measures to be adopted in respect to<br />

the exportation of d<strong>om</strong>estic animals to Great Britain and Ireland.<br />

In accordance with the Law concerning measures <strong>for</strong> the prevention or<br />

the exportation of d<strong>om</strong>estic animals of the 14th June of the current year, it is<br />

hereby determined as follows.<br />

§<br />

Horses, cattle, swine, sheep and goats intended <strong>for</strong> shipment to Great<br />

Britain or Ireland shall, immediately previous to shipment on board the vessel<br />

concerned, be examined at the cost of the exporter by a Veterinary Surgeon<br />

appointed <strong>for</strong> the purpose by the authorities, and may only be shipped,<br />

provided that on examination, they do not exhibit any appearance whatsoever of<br />

suffering fr<strong>om</strong> any contagious disease, and that there is not any reason <strong>for</strong><br />

supposing that they, through contact with infected animals, or in any other<br />

manner lately, could be infected by such diseases. The Veterinary Surgeon shall<br />

issue to the exporter a certificate in respect to this.<br />

§ 2.<br />

Immediately on the animals being examined and passed, they shall either<br />

be shipped on board or placed in a special enclosure, so that all contact with<br />

unexamined animals be thereby avoided. At the same time each animal shall<br />

be furnished with a mark to show that it has been examined and may be<br />

exported. The number and sex of the animals, together with the nature of the<br />

mark, shall be entered in the certificate of health which is issued by the Veterinary<br />

Surgeon.<br />

§ 3.<br />

Every ship intended to be employed in exportation as mentioned in 1,<br />

shall, be<strong>for</strong>e each voyage, at the first place where it shall ship animals in this<br />

country, be inspected by a qualified Norwegian Veterinary Surgeon appointed<br />

thereto by the authorities, or, provided no such Veterinary Surgeon is to be<br />

found there, then by the Police Authorities at the place. Should such Veterinary
