Surgeon. When circumstances allow of it, the places should also be aired <strong>for</strong><br />
8 days after the disinfection has taken place.<br />
Cleansing shall be effected by thoroughly washing the infected place or<br />
objects with warm water and soap or lye, by means of a brush or bro<strong>om</strong>.<br />
After the objects have dried, they shall be rewashed with a disinfecting medium<br />
consisting of 4 portions of crude carbolic acid, 2 portions of crude muriatic or<br />
sulphuric acid, and 94 parts of boiling water, or by but 4 portions of crude<br />
muriatic or sulphuric acid, and 96 parts of water, or fresh solution of chloride<br />
of lime (1 portion of chloride of lime to 10 parts of water), or 1 /2 (),/,, of solution<br />
of corrosive sublimate (this latter being excessively poisonous ought only to be<br />
used by Veterinarv Surgeons). The masonry must be powdered with ordinary<br />
lime after disinfection has taken place.<br />
Should the flooring at the place where the animal has been be old and<br />
rotten, or if there are holes and crevices in it, it ought to be broken up, the<br />
woodwork burnt, and after the packing under it has been dug out and renewed,<br />
and disinfection taken place, new flooring may be laid down. If the floor in<br />
the place is c<strong>om</strong>mon earth, it must be dug up to at least the depth of the blade<br />
of the spade, and filled in -with fresh earth.<br />
Infected earth and packinps, !oust be treatod in n similar manner as the<br />
offal of affected animals.<br />
Iron articles are best cleansed by being heated red hot.<br />
Milk, or its productions, must not be utilized fr<strong>om</strong> other animals than those<br />
which, on the authority of the Veterinary So n, are entirely free fr<strong>om</strong> al)<br />
signs of disease. Milk productions prepared fr<strong>om</strong>, or mixed Willi Milk fr<strong>om</strong> an<br />
affected animal, or one suspected of being infected, must be destroyed.<br />
As Anthrax is, according to ,,,`; 2 of the Law relative to D<strong>om</strong>estic Animals,<br />
a disease subject to Ilie special attention of the Public Authorities, the owner<br />
of animals attacked by this disease must at once call in a Veterinary Surgeon.<br />
