beskrevet i denne undersøgelse med i overvejelserne, når de udvikler<br />

interventioner til håndtering af åbenhed som en vedvarende<br />

udfordring livet igennem som beskrevet af Paterson (42).<br />

Ud fra ovennævnte diskussion af vores fund foreslår vi, at forskere<br />

og klinikere bør udvide deres fokus på kronisk sygdom til<br />

at se det som en vedvarende og omskiftelig proces. Patienten<br />

kunne drage fordel af en systematisk og fortsat drøftelse af alle<br />

de spørgsmål, der er forbundet med åbenhed om hiv-status og<br />

derved reducere stress og depressive symptomer. Vi foreslår, at<br />

der fokuseres på, hvad der bringer den enkelte ud af balance i<br />

stedet for at tænke på risikofaktorer. Dette vil kunne bidrage til<br />

en sundere strategi for åbenhed og bedre balance i den enkeltes<br />

liv. Vi foreslår også, at fremtidig forskning skal udvikle interventioner,<br />

der fokuserer på kommunikationsstrategier, der kan<br />

støtte den hiv-positive til et velbalanceret liv. Undersøgelsen peger<br />

på, at hiv-positive vil have glæde af løbende at drøfte overvejelser<br />

om åbenhed om hiv-status. Det vil kunne hjælpe til at reducere<br />

hiv-relateret stress og dermed forebygge depression.<br />
